Remember a newspaper article a few years back where a lot of the commentators and journo's stated their allegiances, and Tyldesley said he was a rag. This was pre "night of all nights" and I thought surprising because he did my favourite all-time City match commentary. The 5-1 derby in '89, Hinchcliffe at the far post and all that.

I was shocked when I found out he was a RAG. I also loved the 5-1 commentary , I still know the commentary to all the goals off the top of my head. Once I heard he was a RAG I did notice he got a big excited about Hughes goal , bearing in mind it was just a consolation he was building it up big time.

Didn't feel like only a consolation at the time - it made it 3-1 and I reckon most blues shit themselves a tiny bit

Seasoned blues only stop shitting themselves when we are sufficiently far ahead for any opposition to score the requisite number of goals to deny us a famous victory!

Complete with the converse when hope seems to have disappeared.

Im watching the match again, both of them are shocking. Townsend after 25 mins of City pressure, they get a throw in, he said "thats better" before adding "thats better for chelsea" to try and cover his tracks. Sort of expect it from him as he is ex chelsea but Clive "one balmy night in Barcelona" Tyldesley is supposed to be impartial, impartial my fucking arse.

Not an exaggeration or agenda thinking to say that there are no City fans amongst the various commentators, Quinn is the closest as a co-commentator and he clearly prefers Sunderland to us and goes out of his way to be 'unbiased'.

Not worth starting a seperate thread over but anybody watched the extended highlights for this game on CityTV? Pretty certain the commentator was a City fan anyway but when it showed the Aguero 'tackle' on Luiz and he remained silent throughout the replays before just seriously saying "Chelsea not too happy with Aguero's attempt to win the ball there" couldn't help but laugh.

Just saw that myself, very funny.

Thought Tyldesley was his usual self, but Townsend had plenty of good things to say about us. Surprising he got Zabs nationality wrong as I honestly think he's one of his favourite players. Always saying how great he is, getting stuck in, no nonsense. Also said when we bring our A game we're the best team in the league.

Alastair Mann. Used to commentate on city for granada when we were in division 2. Used to do a lot of the commentary for the season videos too. I assume he is a big blue.
