Club Badge (merged)

As someone who trains staff to speak English, for a supplier to Nike (they outsource their work often), they can roll out new embroidered, woven or stick on crests within a week up to 1,000 in quantity. To supply a team, I can't say who, they managed to send 2,000 to a memorial-like game in Europe recently. So, I'd imagine a club of our stature could have a new shirt with new crest designed, printed and replicated inside a week to a month/.

Rafael Esquer (NYCFC badge designer) is not involved in the new badge, and wasn't involved in the Melbourne badge. That one didn't work out too well :-(

PSG. Wasnt that just the Sponsor part that was changed, i'm sure its quicker to steam on a transfer than embroider a crest badge though.

Was there a commerate badge too, i didnt notice?? I think they've added the Je Suis Paris under their crest but again, would think they is just another steam on transfer added to their existing stock.

still think they will want about 6 months prior to sort it all out, they wont want any rush if they can avoid it. Expect an announcement in January/Feb time, no point doing it now to hamper Xmas sales of the current crest stock.

not heard Melbourne fans complain about the Melbourne Badge .... maybe just the rebrand in general from Melbourne Heart. You cant say it didnt work out too well just because you dont like it and dont want something like it. Its not our club so we have no reason to criticise it, more to the pount, we wont get something like that because that isnt our City flag and we have nothing close to that to set your fears off.

Yeh I can, I'm talking from a design point of view the Melbourne badge doesn't work. Neither does the City Football group logo, both of which were done by City's in house design team.

Whether Melbourne fans like it is irrelevant. Good design is down to individual taste.

individual taste is fine, but from a 'design perspective', you have to take in numerous factors. pleasing the few is a futile quest, you have to concentrate on the general consensus.

The Melbourne City Badge does what its meant to, links in the CFG, the City of Melbourne and includes where it came from in respect to Melbourne Heart.

I get why you dont like it, your main objection is the centrepiece flag, as everything else is based on the Esquer design so it isnt that part. And saying you dont like the centrepiece flag isnt the point of the badge is irrelevant as its not for you or us, but for the people of Melbourne.

To say its a crap design is utter bollox, the design is exactly what its meant to be for their club. You dont like it, fair enough, but to say the badge is a fail is just disrespectful to them.

I dont think we will see the new design until the end of the season and the launch of new kits.

So much stock to sell right now with the old badge on and it will make it much more difficult to do that if a new design is out there for all to see.

It will be shown for the first time when it has been printed on a scarf and Pep and Messi are both holding it aloft stood on the Etihad pitch! Heard it here first.

wouldnt be suprised every one will have bought for xmas day.also they have started reducing this years kit a lot earlier than usual

That's exactly why I would be surprised. Imagine the bitter taste of buying your kid a city shirt and the next day it being out of date.

if you think about it the current shirt is out of date in may anyway.so providing they only show the new badge and dont sell anything it makes no difference

I think you're getting "fulfilling a brief" confused with good design. The Melbourne badge definitely fulfills the brief of tying in with CFG and representing Melbourne, but it doesn't mean the design works.

The worst designed corporate logo I have ever seen is the First Advice logo we used to have on our shirts. "Advice" was in a speech bubble. Advice was their brand and putting it in a speech bubble indicated to the viewer that the company spoke sense and gave good advice. Did it fit the brief? Yes. Did it work from a design point of view? Did it balls.

Same with the eagle in a circle, it kind of fits the brief, but as for the design working, no, absolutely not.

Rafael Esquer called the Melbourne badge "A terrible missed opportunity." With respect, I'll take his opinion on design over yours or the Melbourne fans who you say like it.

I think you mean it doesn't work for you. I like it.

Yeh as I said earlier in the thread, good design is in the eye of the beholder. For example, some people might like the yellow Arndale tower, but it won't be winning any architecture design awards.

Some people still like boot cut jeans, some people like watching James Bond films, some people like the eagle inside a circle, there's no accounting for taste.

The fuck is wrong with bootcut jeans?

When you have size 11 feet they are essential..wear skinny jeans I end up looking like coco the clown
