Club Badge (merged)

That's probably true to a point about United fans, but I've been asked by fans from other clubs what the 3 stars are for. I told them I didn't know. As for being purely decoration, they were pointless. More like an after thought. A badge is supposed to represent the club, it's history, and the ties it has with the local area, and or the city, and not decoration.
Lee, Bell, and Sumerbee.

If I was a betting person I'd have a tenner on this, possibly with a small Lancashire red rose either side in place of the crosses. Looks pretty good to me :-)

I'm convinced they already have the new badge designed and it will closely resemble the other badges in the City group. This survey was just a way to convince us all that this is what we have asked for and they are simply giving us what we want.

The ridicule of the stars is a typical rag response. The people who get wound up by that are likely the same people that refuse to use the word massive in football conversation. It was made clear from the start that the stars were purely for decoration, just because other teams have or have since added stars to their badge to symbolise something it doesn't suddenly mean all stars on all badges have to symbolise something.

I don't get this sort of comment. Before the consultation, the current badge was always being discussed and without question the overall opinion was that it isn't liked very much. This forum has had various designs which are round and seemingly well received
A common question asked had been, will we ever change the badge.

And so here we are, given the chance to voice an opinion and some are suggesting its all a stitch up.

I would really like something like this, sharp and clean and very much along the lines of the rest of the city group

I wonder what the club's plans are with regard to removing the eagle badge from fixtures around the campus!

City Circle has a badge in the floor, the bridge has one on the side, there's one by the tunnel plus thousands splattered around the stadium on walls and windows. Will these be changed or just left to grow old?

Always being discussed? On here maybe, outside of the internet? Nope. I've never discussed a badge change and don't know any other person that has discussed this outside of this forum either, and we usually talk about a lot of city related crap, especially to and from away games.

As for suggesting it's a stitch up, i wouldn't go that far, it's more just covering their own backs in case of any potential backlash from fans. having a rather meaningless survey is just insurance in case fans don't like the new design. They can turn around and say "well you asked for it"

If they had just suddenly announced they were changing the badge, regardless of it reverting back to a round shape, a lot of people would use the old "we're losing our identity" card. This way, they've got that covered. I'm not particularly bothered either way in truth, The badge is just a badge, it doesn't really represent anything to me, i quite like the current one and i think we could easily be left with a worse badge, but conversely, i'm not really attached to the current badge in any meaningful way.

i just highly doubt the club decided to do this after fans voicing their opinion on it. I think this has probably been in the pipeline since they acquired New York and Melbourne. If you think otherwise, then fine. I suppose we'll find out who's closer to the truth when the new badge is revealed and whether or not it looks remarkably similar to the other badges in the city group.

So why did the club involve Garry James and was he misled?

I'm convinced the centre will have a ship for the ship canal and 3 stripes for our 3 rivers.

It's been consistent with 2 of our 3 badges and even the Lancashire Rose had the ship above it.

It better fucking do anyway, unless they're reverting to the old rose badge, then I'd be happy also.
