Always being discussed? On here maybe, outside of the internet? Nope. I've never discussed a badge change and don't know any other person that has discussed this outside of this forum either, and we usually talk about a lot of city related crap, especially to and from away games.
As for suggesting it's a stitch up, i wouldn't go that far, it's more just covering their own backs in case of any potential backlash from fans. having a rather meaningless survey is just insurance in case fans don't like the new design. They can turn around and say "well you asked for it"
If they had just suddenly announced they were changing the badge, regardless of it reverting back to a round shape, a lot of people would use the old "we're losing our identity" card. This way, they've got that covered. I'm not particularly bothered either way in truth, The badge is just a badge, it doesn't really represent anything to me, i quite like the current one and i think we could easily be left with a worse badge, but conversely, i'm not really attached to the current badge in any meaningful way.
i just highly doubt the club decided to do this after fans voicing their opinion on it. I think this has probably been in the pipeline since they acquired New York and Melbourne. If you think otherwise, then fine. I suppose we'll find out who's closer to the truth when the new badge is revealed and whether or not it looks remarkably similar to the other badges in the city group.
