Club Badge (merged)

I am in the rivers and boat camp

Listened to Blue Tuesday and understand Sheila wanting the rose but that is more to do with where she feels she is from rather than the club.

We are Manchester and we sing

Manchester la la la
The only team from Manchester
Manchester is beautiful etc

We don't sing in your Lancashire homes (Burnley)
Lanky lanky Lancashire (Bolton)

Also the Eagle is not associated with City even after nearly 20 years of current badge nor the stars

They did it...we shouldn't!!!!

Just like FC Rags

Also just like manchester city a long time before that tin pot outfit existed, add a bee if you can and that would do me

Also ditch the eagle as it's never looked right with the shield

I've grown up with the current badge so wouldn't mind if we kept it. I'd do something about the three stars though as it is used out of its usual context.

It doesn't matter what FC have. They are truly insignificant.

I went today and it was superb. The club should be applauded for consultations because whatever happens they won't please everyone.

Round ships and rivers get my vote.

Bolton is Greater Manchester which is another point why Greater Manchester means naff all and why we are all Lancashire really.

I think you and some other posters come from the modern viewpoint that Lancashire is up that way with the funny accents which is why you don't want to associate yourselves with that but that is just a part of what Lancashire used to be, so that area is no more Lancashire than we. If it was decided tomorrow by the politicians that Manchester be dissolved into Merseyside along with Warrington and everywhere else in-between, would you then argue that we should have Merseyside symbolism as oppose to Greater Manchester (if that was the symbolism on our badge previously)?

Here is the Gtr. MCR COA:

Countys, boroughs etc. are liable to change if politicians suddenly decide to make it so, so really they don't count for anything. It's just an organisational body/authority.

Even if Manchester was part of Lancs, so are/were countless other teams. MCFC represents the city and people of Manchester, and our badge should reflect that. The Lancs rose is as relevant as the EU flag

Are those cotton flowers either side of it? Does the decorative thing around it have any meaning?

Maybe something like this (sky-blue rather than red) inside our white roundel would make the badge more striking? The shield inside the roundel isn't really an eye catcher comparing it to other clubs.

i want our most important elements in there but we've got an opportunity to make our badge one of the best looking in football and I hope we don't pass that up.

@GeekinGav fancy a go at mocking this up in the roundel? Could fill in the space around the shield inside the roundel and make the badge look more 3D. Decorative bit overlapping the roundel but not interfering with text.

I'm with this fella*...the shield inside the inner chapter dont work, useing the full space of the inner chapter could if done reet create a 3d effect, the ship needs to be stylised something akin to Gavs earlier example or seen on the municipal technical college. No rose, the bee could go onto one of the ships sails if the whole of the chapter area is used without looking cheesy/too squashed-in, almost like the mouseman furniture

I've been a city fan for 55 years and a traditionalist in the past but I now feel we should go modern and radical. We should also somehow reflect our appreciation to our Owners in the design. Although I loved the late 60's early 70's ever sine our recent era I experienced far too many downs than up's
Let's start from new forget the history ( controversial I know but living in the shadow of the Rags for all these years has taken its toll on me).

right so lets base our new badge just on the last few years under mansour and completely forget the rest of the 100 + years of history we have ! the badge is meant to represent us as a club, our history and manchester. That would be a ridiculous idea. what happens if we get new owners in the next few years and we win things under them ? do we change the badge again ?.

you cannot and should not forget about our long and proud history, the badge must represent that. its about more than just now !

Good point. I'm not in favour of Lancashire symbolism, apart from a bit of nostalgia over the rose as that badge was 'City' for so long (but I'd take the rivers over it every time). It's the reasoning against it (that we aren't considered part of Lancashire anymore) that was annoying me a bit. That something that stood for hundreds of years and for which significant wars were fought that we would disregard for something that doesn't make any sense and has lasted 42 years (half a lifetime, which is nothing in the scheme of things).

Just politicians in this country have no regard for the culture of this country. Ireland, Scotland, Wales have retained a lot of their original culture and actively promote it. We have a culture that is just as celtic that is totally disregarded - the only difference being that Cornish is the only surviving language in England (and some bits of Cumbric still spoken), which is essentially the original British language (more or less Welsh), it differed very slightly throughout the island because it wasn't a written language.

The only cultural thing to see about England nowadays is fish and chips.

university of manchester, page 204 click to expand.

If the total area of the inner chapter was to be used and allow a design to swerve the wastage areas then something like part segments akin to ship canal house could be tried
