United have a badge that only represents their club and has no connection to Manchester. What you`re saying
is we should follow their example and think only of "global branding".
Personally I think what attracts people to us is the fact that we are different as a club, we have a strong
connection to our roots. Skt. Pauli is a big club in Germany without selling its soul. Barcelona have
done well for themselves worldwide despite having an ancient looking badge. There are many clubs that are successful that have meaningful badges to their local support without the badge having to be "modernised".
If you want to give the finger to the rest of the world then surely pushing for a badge that singles you out
as a Mancunian would be better than pushing for a badge that merely makes you a "global customer"?

When I got into Manchester we went to near the crown court and there are statues of eagles on the front of the building. I've never seen them before. They look a bit like the eagle on the badge.

Going off this thread, I'd estimate:

10% want to keep the eagle (If Tony M and Aguero 93.20 make up 10% between them)
45% want a roundel with the ship and Lancashire rose
45% want a roundel with the ship and city of Manchester 3 river crest.

Going off the two most popular designs, I really hope there is a "phase 2" part of the consultation where the two most popular designs could be debated.

The club could mock up the two most popular designs, Gary could explain a bit further what each represents, and then "Cityzens" / club members could vote on the final design.

Having 2 designs to vote on will guarantee we end up with a final design that the majority of blues have chosen.

But the club statement is they might go back to an old badge, create a new one or leave it unchanged.

Why not a banana instead of the boat and (for old times sake) instead of the eagle we could ave a guy in a raincoat holding up a board saying 'prepare to meet thy god' ? Also, we should just ave 'City' on it because we are the only city anyway, arent we?
This badge thing is getting way too complicated for me...

Yeh I'm leaning towards a blue shield as well mate. I'm leaning as far away from the eagle as possible though I'm afraid. Never got it, just looks like a cheap Lazio rip off to me, nothing to do with City or Manchester in my eyes.
 
Is there a modern day version of the man with the placard saying ''Prepare to meet thy doom'' stalking our new ground lol?
