When was the last time you saw a German plane and tank with that cross on it that wasn't nazi?

You were the one to link nazis with German tanks/planes by saying the last time you saw that cross was on a German tank, intimating it as nazi symbol. I was only saying that st marks use of the cross predates the nazi use of the cross

are you a bit mental?

I'm sorry Mr Eagle officer i don't understand your question, are yo saying your squiggley topped sheild fits aestheticaly better into a circle and you re oposed to any bluemoon symbolsm

I'll take that as a yes :-)

Are you suggesting the shield we had for over 70 years doesn't fit aesthetically in to a circle? What a strange viewpoint.

And yes, I am opposed to any bluemoon symbolism. I'm also opposed to any "Cityzens" symbolism, inflatable banana symbolism, poznan symbolism, 93.20 sybolism etc.

bingo Mr. Tashman, i'm suggesting just that regard the shield...cityzens and nana's certainly dont marry well into a xirxle...a circle fits into a circle though...a blue circle...a bluemoon circle

The one that you say belongs on a German tank, was ? used by st marks as the origonal badge on a black shirt in 1880, there is a photo to support this that predates the use of the Maltesse cross (or iron cross as you would say) by more than 50 years. In the same way that there is evidence that the swastika is an ancient Hindu symbol predating hitler's use of it as a symbol for the national socialist party.
There is no evidence to say St Marks ever wore a white cross patee. The photo we assume to be the earliest known image connected with the roots of our club is believed to be of Gorton AFC in 1884, it is not St Mark's. I spent quite a bit of time going through the pre-MCFC symbols at the talks I did at City over the last month or so and this was one area where a lot of myths have developed. The club had moved, merged and reformed by the time the photo was taken and the significance of the cross is unclear (though I have views). I hope this helps. Cheers

Don't let Gary James know that you think this. He'd be seriously pissed off after all the work he has done if this turned out to be true.
The beauty of this process has been that fans, including @Prestwich_Blue , can think and comment on any aspect of the badge. No other club has done this and, on a personal level, I have total faith that when the consultation started in mid-October no badge had been selected.

Thanks Gary, it's interesting how the photo is not even of Gorton St Marks as many assume.

It's been one of the more curious elements of the consultation for me how many people want the cross included. There are so many negative connotations of crosses like that, and it's puzzling why so many people want it included just because of the loosest of historical links.

When was the photo discovered Gary? I thought it was a fairly recent discovery, yet some people talk about the cross as if it's always been associated with the founding of the club and this is our chance to reclaim it. I personally have no affiliation to that cross whatsoever, and I'd be stunned if it was used.
