Club Badge (merged)

Think the easy way to find out if its been a sham or not.
The next seasons kit images have surfaced on thre 19/ dec the last 2 years if its got the new badge on this time .theirs your answer

doubt it, manufacturers standard releases have the old stuff on before it changes, see sponsorship logos that are on shirts in March but get changed before release.

The last two years the pictures have been sneaked out of a nike trade fair possibly serbia ? And have both been the finished kits

i'm sure they will release either a shortlist or the final design around Xmas, giving them a few months to review it, see if there are any mass objections to it ..... i'm just thankful that with a circular badge, Nike dont need to use THAT police shield on the kits

I do think the plan was to change because of the CFG portfolio, it doesn't fit alongside the rest and I say the amount they have done for this club means you have to try and see things their way a little bit(it does makes sense for what they are trying to build). Thats not to say they haven't tried to listen to what the fans want in the round badge though so they do care. My issue is who have they been listening to though? From the sounds of it they've just gone around the supporters clubs and got the feedback there, my local one doesn't exactly have the youngest members in theirs, from what I've seen of others on CityTV the same rings true for many others so I think the opinions you'll get there are very one sided.

I think if they were really listening to the fans then they'd have had to keep the Eagle personally. I've just looked at the Bluemoonrisingtv youtube comments regarding the news and an overwhelming majority are complaining(not even debatable). I've seen people say the same of facebook too(never use that so cant confirm it) but then pass it off as "oh its all just the young fans", I'd disagree with that for a start because plenty of older fans like it too(I'd wager that you could lose the stars and the latin and they'd all be happy... its the eagle that makes it recognisable). Secondly to say you are going to ask the fans and then ignore a "massive"(lol) section of them, even if it were just the young fans(which it's not) that would be disregarding the future in a way and saying their opinions aren't as important isn't smart. We haven't seen the badge yet so it might still be there in some way, which would make the above irrelevant.

I know I said I'd not post till we see the official one but seeing the reaction to the news had me thinking.

yes, but we've had the same badge and sponsor, the leaks of other teams have had old sponsors till official announcements about a new one.

I've spoken to a mate in the industry and he said final designs for next seasons Premier League kit are usually released to manufacturers at the end of November.

The timing of the consultation and the press release last week is surely no coincidence.

City have announced they will be releasing the badge in the next couple of weeks, so they'll probably release it to City fans just before they send it to manufacturers, and the kit will be out a few weeks later than most other teams kits next summer.

I'm pretty sure we usually release the kit for sale later than most other teams anyway don't we?

Young fans, foreign fans, new fans

No offence but I'll be fucked if my badge..and I do say mine as I've earned the right to..for years of dogged support through mostly a sea of shit..is going to be decided by some Congolese no mark who started following City last year because he liked the colour of our strip

the club owes you nothing mate ,read the guys post he is speaking up for people who like the eagle ,why is it so difficult for some people on here to execpt that ,its like the playground gang bullying its way round the play ground , lets hope to fuck that the club bring out a badge that pleases YOU becouse there will be some dummys spat out if not

Thanks Gary. Your a fountain of City knowledge. Tbh I was originally looking at the point as some fans were saying the eagle badge had covered our most successful period. If the eagle does go I won't be on here gloating. ..just quietly pleased that I'm among like minded folk.
I think you'll find my point was that the only badge of the three that was worn on the shirt when we won silverware, was the eagle, not that it was the only club badge that was displayed on buildings, literature and merchandise when we won.

He's right though.

Why should some new plastic fan from abroad have an equivalent input to a long standing match going supporter on a decision as central to Manchester City and its identity as its club crest?

They shouldn't, and it's a fair point.

Who cares that a lot of new plastic fans are disappointed we're losing the eagle, their input in a decision like this should be an irrelevance.

So if you say you like the Eagle you're a foreign plastic fan that's still in high school? Thanks for clearing that up for us all.

Agree with your assumptions .lets see what pictures get sneaked out of the nike trade show .my hunch would be a shirt already with the new badge on

No, of course not. Feeble strawman.

But most of the people who hold such a view are those kind of people.

Those who think similarly among the core support are very much in the minority, and the views of the core support are priority. Not those of some JCL plastics from abroad.

The consensus among new fans abroad is distinctly different from the long standing core support, and the latter group take precedence over the former. Do you disagree or something?

But you dont really know this though do you... especially when you pass opinions off that you dont like as not core support and foreign plastic fans. The majority of core support aren't members of their local supporters clubs I'd wager. Even here there's like 15-20 of you at most who have been so obsessively against the eagle on a forum of how many members? Anyone who has had anything to say for the eagle on this thread has been rallied against and met with hostility in some cases(almost like a task squad shows up to cover it up... "nothing to see here we all hate the eagle" haha), so I can see why some would shy away from the tread if they dont happen to agree with the anti-eagle posse. Personally I couldn't give fuck how much you bitch and moan at me(I have stuck up for others who tried to just give their say though because it doesn't seem fair), I have my own opinion and thats the way I like it(nothing wrong with that).

I liked the eagle as I have grown up with it however I'm now looking forward to the new badge. There were some good suggestions that I liked.

its about world wide marketing, the club will go with the design that appeals to the biggest world wide audience and if that demographic includes some kids in africa it would be arrogant of us to dismiss those people , im grateful that im able to watch city live every other week but it does not make me a bigger or more entitled blue

I do know. I go to games, I know what the consensus is among all the blues I know, and it's clear what it is among the match going blues on here.

And that does give a fair reflection of what the core support wants.

Keep deluding yourself otherwise if you so wish.

You're very much in the minority, unless of course you're on forums among said new plastic fans abroad, which aren't at all representative of what the core support wants.

You didn't answer my question by the way, do you think everyone should have an equivalent say on this regardless of how long they've been supporting City and regardless of where they're from or their links to Manchester?
