It will certainly be easier than the ludicrous three stars that's for sure!

I think the new badge is a vast improvement on the old one. The rose is the one bit that irks a bit.

I actually posted ages ago that while it will without doubt be at most an irritation to long standing fans south of the Mersey it could prove a significant barrier to building our support east of the Pennines. I know a lot of people will say so what? The issue is we are actively looking to grow as a club with ambitions to go to 70.000 plus in the next decade or so. I would have much preferred not to include a symbol that could be seen as divisive and is actually currently geographically incorrect.

That's what Gary James posted awhile back. Tbh I always thought it represented the Ship Canal but it actually predates it. The ship and rivers have appeared on all City's badges from the '30s onwards. None of the other stuff has.

You can't seriously be arguing that someone from Yorkshire wouldn't support us purely because we've got the red rose of Lancashire on the badge? If that happened then we wouldn't miss them would we?

I honestly don't know mate but it has struck me as having that potential. If there are any Blues from Yorkshire reading this it would be interesting to know their views.

The roses upon both the lion and the antelope are references to the county of Lancashire. The Antelope and Lion are derived from the coat of arms of Henry IV (of the House of Lancaster).

As I said earlier in the thread, although we are no longer geographically, administratively or postally within the county of Lancashire we are still part of the Palatinate of Lancaster which has the red rose as an emblem. That's good enough for me.

With respect, the city has not moved as so if it was geographically in Lancashire before the GMC was formed, then it still is now. It's fairly basic logic. I don't know why so many people struggle with the concept. I am Mancunian, Lancastrian, English and British. I am not sure what is difficult to understand and accept about that. I have spent most of my life [from birth] in West Didsbury. It's always been in Lancashire and not Cheshire, for example. Anyway, I have enough of this. You can all believe what you want.

I've just had to google Palatine and Duchy as I keep seeing them mentioned. It seems to be an area controlled by an Earl, or some other member of the Royal family.

Not wishing to get political with any Daily Mailers, but the Royal family has absolutely relevance to me or to the way Manchester is governed. The Earl or Duchy or whatever has absolutely no powers or influence over Manchester whatsoever. They have as much influence in 2016 Manchester as Romans or Druids.

LOL. You may have felt differently if you were from, for example, Alsace-Lorraine in the early 20th century or Crimea today.
