Club Statement (Mancini sacked) (Cont)

How the affair was handled has nothing to do with how they or anyone else felt about Mancini. I expect Ferran and Txiki to handle the transistion to a new manager as smoothly as possible and not have it plastered over every media outlet 24 hours before an important Cup Final. They have a duty of care in how they conduct business and that duty of care extends to the owners, employees of the club and us as fans.

So don't let your 'fan boy' emotion blind you to mistakes made by Txiki and Ferran. And besides you know I supported the appointment of the Barca boys and still do. It was the right move and I never rated the chances of them getting on with Mancini that highly either but what happened on Saturday still pisses me off and will do for a while. It should and could have been avoided.

Their duty of care is to the long term health of City, nothing more. As I've said, last Friday you along with a few others were commenting on how amazing it was that there was zero speculation about Mancini's position in the British media. Four days later he's sacked and we'd handled it badly? Nah ... Ancelotti knowing he was dead man walking since February, with the British press writing it every week, and then him getting the sack in the tunnel within an hour of the last game. That's handling it badly. A week ago the media in the UK were still reporting that Mancini was safe. Ferran and Txiki did the best they could whilst dealing with someone who is basically unmanageable.

Anyway, it's all moot. The bunting is out. Just as the handling of the Hughes sacking was water under the bridge within a couple of weeks, the Mancini sacking will be the same.

No, you read it, don't read into it.

Billy didn't write "he did nothing for us", he wrote "Roberto Mancini was trying to do what's best for Roberto Mancini."

i am very happy with how i read it thank you,the barca boys were doing the best for the club whilst he was doing what was best for himself,i dont agree

You think Billy's position is that Mancini doing what is best for him is the same as Mancini doing nothing for us. They are not.

im not round in circles with you,my view is there is no need for the hatred directed at mancini on this thread this morning,go read other threads for a fair assessment of what has happened over the last 3yrs instead of taking the guy to bits

From unforgettable moments to ex-employee within such a short time? Wow. Thank you so much for the FA Cup final celebration and catching Lombardo mid flight. Also I'll never forget your Championship-winning celebration last May, but, Christ almighty, why did it all go so wrong? Transfer policy? Tactical naivety? Why did you keep on making the same mistakes, Roberto? You had the honour of managing the Club we would all die for but yet you f*cked it up. What a waste. Good luck wherever your life takes you next. Manchester City FC will moving onwards and upwards without you.

So it's Pelligrini for 3 years then Pep to follow after his time at Bayen. I think this is the progression Txiki and Sorrano want.

Many posts on this site have been really unedifying, from telling the club to f-off, saying we're a laughing stock, stating they have cried and blaming everyone at the club.

Hasn't been a good few days on this site at all.

I am so comfortable in the fact that you know everything, with such absolute surety

Terrible couple of days for the club but this site has been pure gold

Crying over a manager, magical stuff

Dont agree with the decision but not much I can do about that! Just have to support the new guy. Surprised we arent going for De Boer.

A lot of people are very confused. They are looking for somewhere to direct this and nothing's off-limits. It will pass soon enough.

In truth, our ex-manager cultivated a lot of this with his self-martyring, which went on right until the death. Some blurt on Twitter was trying to get a "Marwood Out" campaign going, which shows the depth of ignorance amongst some fans.

For me, it's been handled as well as any sacking can be. Noone wants a leak on the day of the cup final but that wasn't City's doing.

You're right I was amazed no one here was picking up on the news coming out of Spain and hoping like hell that someone here had spiked it as I was dreading it coming out on the day itself. I also said you could smell something was up but fingers crossed we could get through the next 24 hours or so unscathed.

Well we didn't. The reports from Spain grew stronger and then the shit hit the fan at the worst possible moment. That pisses me off. We looked like amateurs on Cup Final day and it caused us to accelerate what we planned to do all. Even the official statement alludes to the speculation and you can bet that it was highly unwelcome to all parties on that particular Saturday.

Media management was way below par on this one and it made us look like dicks. But I agree what's done is done. Just not forgotten.
