I remember many years ago on the coach to notts forest in the cup and half way there the snow was that bad the driver turned back after hearing on the radio the match had been called off.
Is my mind playing tricks on me. Can anyone else remember?

Think that was called off cos of rain. Remember it as was in my mates front room waiting for Piccadilly radio to say if it was on or off....we thought they said it was on, piled in the van and off we went.
Realised we got it wrong when we saw all the other coaches/vans coming back when we were half way there.

You're both wrong. It was called off because of fog. I was on one of the coaches which turned round at the Cat and Fiddle pub. Then again, it was a long time ago so my memory might not be 100%.
If we're talking about the 1978 game in the cup it was called off water logged pitch we got to ground about half twelve only to have forest fans taking the piss, still we enjoyed a couple of pints in the trip to Jerusalem.Sure we lost rearranged game 2-1

Boro away. It was that cold we stayed on the concourse drinking (lie. We stopped at York on the way and we didn't even feel anything by the time we got to Boro. In fact, we didn't actually make it into the stands!)

Any game at Oldham wins hands down though. Even in the pre-season friendly the other year they had the undersoil heating on!

Oldham in around 1990 when Megson scored the winner. Fucking freezing.

This 100% , Boundary Park should be renamed Ice Station Zebra , even when the sun is out , its f*cking freezing

It was definitely snow and ice. Our Godfrey Abbot coach skidded on the ice and got stuck sideways across the road wedged between two drystone walls miles from anywhere. We all got out and managed to manoevre the coach back onto the road but the hydraulic brakes were damaged so we limped onto the nearest pub where we heard the game was called off. Another coach came to collect us and, as we were making our way back, we saw a car in a ditch. It turned out to be a Blythe Spartans fan who was on his way to a game (they were on a cup run that year). Again we all jumped out and physically lifted his car back onto the road. The driver said he'd send a letter to city thanking us which he did and it was in the next City programme. We did lose the replay.

Ipswich. Still soaked through! Ooh Vonky Vonky!

EDIT: And seeing every blue running from alleyways to walls to keep dry. It actually rained sideways that day.

That is one of my all time favorite games.

Yep, definitely snow. Our coach got so far when we heard it had been called off. Decided to go to the Stoke v Blyth game. As we arrived at the Victoria ground, all the Blyth coaches were heading for home!

What about Coventry Away FA Cup 1996? Proper skid pan around the ground.

FA Cup defeat at Shrewsbury in 1979. Snow cleared off the pitch in to the stand. Stood behind the goal on sheet ice in trainers. Crap result and absolutely frozen... Happy days!!
Remember it well, especially the end, launching snowballs into the Shrewsbury end.
That was, one cold day.

As a 16 year old I was ejected by the local plod at the end of the game for not stopping chucking snowballs at the old gits in what passed for the main stand there.

Yes it was a waterlogged pitch, we were sat on the special at Piccadilly waiting for the result of the pitch inspection. For those mentioning snow It was probably snowing in the Peak District on the way to Nottingham but raining in Nottingham itself.

Loosing at home to Swindon. Cold very very wet and hardly any crowd. Sheltered under the old scoreboard box with my dad. 63 ish ?? and I also have Buzzer playing for them (I think???) Ballet on ice was cold but the football has provided warm memories to this day. Every trip to Latics has lived up to the Ice Station Zebra Tag and Huddersfield in the cup was similar. Losing in the cup at Gay Meadow was cold and miserable. Lots and lots of old stadiums with away ends uncovered and home matches with the snow from the plastic sheet piled up at the front of the stands also come to mind. A big win v Burnley making up for yesterday! - Seem to recall Buzzer taking a drink from the crowd when taking a corner. Lots and lots of really enjoyable times watching CITY.

Copenhagen away a few years ago in the Europa league, anyone who was there will vouch that it was without a doubt the coldest night on record!!

Great trip though
