Cole Palmer

To be fair, Enciso got more consistent minutes, played in a team with less expectations, with less pressure, less competition and that wasnt facing parked buses every week. Cole gets a few mins when the game is won, were in cruise control and the 60goal a season striker has his feet up on the bench, the only meaningful minutes came at the end of the season when the leagues won and the main focus of the team was to not get injured before the finals. Stick Cole in that Brighton team and i have no doubt we'd be all over him, its not surprising that they a reported interest in him, because they're no mugs at spotting talent.
Personally i think he is suffering from being one of the top academy prospects, he's caught in the hole of being good enough to train with the first team but not quite to the level to start which means he misses out on the key to any players development minutes on the pitch. Beckham was loaned out, Mount was loaned out, Wilshere, Sturridge, Kane etc He needs more game time whether with us or on loan, i hope its with us as i think he has the talent and I think we have the talent in the team to accommodate him that chance. I think we'd be stupid to sell him, even with a buyback, why? Because we'd definitely be buying him back.
Mate, Cole showed little when given the opportunity with an elite City squad, as opposed to Lewis & Foden who've shown the generational talent to breakthrough.

Perhaps the level we're at & trying to maintain is beyond Cole, & being a regular starter at Brighton is his level.

If he remains this season, I honestly can't see much more happening for him than unfolded last season imho. This is why he needs a season long loan at a PL club so the player & City can see his true level.

I hope he can make it at City, however based on what I saw last season, I have my doubts. Even Cole admitted he'd let himself down & didn't perform anywhere near the required level when given the chance to warrant playing first team football at City.

At least he was being honest & telling it as most other's saw it. The ball's now literally & figuratively in Cole's court.

Two things stood out in today's friendly. Simeone FINALLY took the handbrakes off Atletico & they were a totally different proposition to the negative, brutish team of cloggers we faced previously.

Today we needed a Mahrez & Sané on either wing to break them down, but had few options outside of Foden & Silva. At this level & on current form, neither Cole nor Bobb are at this our level & we can ill-afford to wait & see how either progresses.

I'm concerned about our width coming from LB - RB - LW - RW. We look solid playing 3 CB's with Stones stepping into midfield, but sooner or later the opposition with find the key to unlock that tactic, so then what?

Pep & Txiki have a lot to consider before September 1st, & not a lot of time to do something about it. Today's match clearly outlined our lack of danger & jeopardy from wide areas, & this concerns me.

We should allow Cole to go out on loan & develop & address these wide defensive & attacking issues as a priority. Trust me, to not do so will return to bite us on the arse mate.

We all know Palmer has a lot of talent. I like to think Pep and Txiki know exactly when to sell a youngster with a buy-back clause, loan him or keep him in the squad. So far a lot of youngsters have left either loaned or sold. Can you name a young player that left our club that we all can agree on being a huge failure by the club? I can’t … yet.

Fuck me. How many generational talents do we have? Do we remember what generational actually means?

That aside, how many minutes has Palmer played in a fully motivated first team? I don't mean as one of three substitutes when the game is already won and the first teamers are cruising. Genuine question. I don't know.

I would like to see him on the right wing for 90 minutes a few times in a full first team before I decide he can't make it.
