Cole Palmer

Clearly some issues between him and Pep but very disappointing when people said he could be better than Phil.
If we cop for a lot of injuries were screwed.
If he turns out even half as good as Foden, I'll eat a big red candle

I’m gutted he’s going but can’t blame the lad. Gets a £5m signing on fee, more appearances = more bonus money, gets a nice pad in Kensington. What’s not to like for a young lad?

I guess from Cole’s point of view this one move sets him up financially for life and living in London. Good move for him I think.
It's a risky move, I just hope he hasn't been listening to bad advice. 21 and playing for your own team and winning trophies, I just don't get it, unless he wants to load up early on and cash out when he's 25/26 and then scoot around the mid table teams for the rest of his career.

I'm getting Sturridge and Sancho vibes on this one, trying to run before he can walk, which would be a shame if it backfires.

I'm not talking about Cole, I'm talking about the bigger picture.

Some of you are obviously cool with supporting a business as long as you keep on winning and I understand that.

Speaking only for myself, I find that a bit cold and sterile. I don't care about the money we make and I don't care what our net spend is. To be honest, I'm not sure why anyone would care who isn't paid to do so.

I used to take pride in our academy but I haven't been to an EDS game in years because it doesn't really mean much to me anymore. It's gone from "that number 8 looks good, he might go on to do big things with us" to "that number 8 looks good, he might help us pay for some ten a penny Premier League player."

We are now a success story. We are not the same club that Steve Redmond could walk out of the reserve And straight into our first team.

If we were we would probably be mid-table with no chance of winning anything.

Now as much fun as it sometimes was in the old 1st and 2nd division would I swop what I have witness since to go back there. I’d be crazy to think that was better football to watch. Would it stop me from going again definitely not.

So people seem to long for the days to return when we were struggling. Enjoy what we have now when it goes it might never return.

The only way he was ever going to be better than Foden is if the latter was derailed by injury.

The fact he has chosen Chelsea where the passage to 1st team is just even not more restricted makes me suspect some off field issues, ever way sorry it didn't work out at City and wish him all the best

It doesn't make sense to me either. I get that he wants more game time. Off the back of the U21 Euros where a fair few are playing regularly and earning more money he probably wanted a taste of it himself. But he's come on and scored in the community shield, started the Super Cup and scored and despite the arrival of Doku has an excellent opportunity of making a lot more appearances this season. Pep rates him, but as with all the squad he can't guarantee him starts. If he keeps coming into the side and performing he'll be rewarded, as has been shown this season. And a new contract with bigger money comes with it.

I can't see how he plays any more regularly at Chelsea. We've got a smaller squad and an extra competition. This seems to just be about money. We can't turn down £40-45m though. That's insane. Good luck to Cole.

Again, there's a balance. If the price of utilising more academy kids in the first team is marginally less success then I'm fine with that.

Others don't feel the same way and I accept that but, as I've said in the past, if all I cared about was winning and trophies then I wouldn't have been a City fan in the first place.

We've done it. We've won the lot. The thought of doing it year after year doesn't quite get my blood pumping the same way it does for others. That doesn't mean I don't want to win but I'm certainly not afraid of losing.
