Cole Palmer

Of course we all get that point. But you would have to factor in the first team aquad wages forcall post 18 players from academy receive as well. Im sre you get this ! it does erode the balance sheet of the academy. My point is the academy SHOULD be more than a school for other clubs to benefit from
We cite Lavia and Cole money..but you cant rely on the odd academy sale to fund academy costs ANd significant wages of those who get a contract post academy. Most are released on a free! Waste of money for most clubs. Brentford saw the light and sacked theirs off for a unique trial system.
Do you seriously believe that our wonderful Management team are not aware of the points you make ref the funding of the Academy, which is also applicable to every other Academy worldwide.
Its not rocket science.

I'm struggling to see what it is we've missed about Cole Palmer. I don't think we'd have had any additional points to our tally by keeping him. Down the line we may lament this loss but it's far too premature to say that we did bad business. In any case, the player wanted to leave.

Losing Cole Palmer has not yet cost us anything. The biggest loss is clearly Ilkay Gundogan, compounded by injuries to Stones and De Bruyne. We've actually been magnificent to win a Treble, lose all those midfielders and still find ourselves top of the pile. The sale of Cole Palmer doesn't yet come into it.
We have a Super Cup…

I don’t disagree with you though.

City drew last night because of our own amateurish defensive errors and blunders, not because Cole Palmer had any sort of influence over the result.

I'm guessing that's as to why this thread has suddenly resurrected. I saw Palmer as a potential future talent, one who could be a team player, but nothing like in the mould of say De Bruyne, Rodri, Gundogan, Foden, Silva etc, you know, a 'game changer' talent.

Spot on MB. He was nothing special and would still have been scratching his arse from the bench splinters at City. Its only my opinion but you look at Rico and all the staff keep repeating the same thing "he wants to keep asking questions about how to improve his play" and maybe Palmer thought he was too good to ask these questions.
Maybe Pep thought the lad was good but not good enough for regular first team activities ?
All supposition on my part but I trust in Pep.
Good luck to the lad.

A few routine through balls and Chelsea fans creaming themselves (Oh how the mighty have fallen) agree we drew yesterday due to back 4 uncharacteristically having an absolute mare for whatever reason.

He's playing more than I thought he would and if I'm honest, doing a lot better than I thought he would so fair fucks to the kid!

Still think we did right at the time selling him for what we sold him for though.

I agree. He wanted to go, good luck to him.

He does seem to have a bit of ego about him, I hope that doesn't poison his goodwill with City fans. Of course, there will always be some idiots who boo any ex player.

The players Pep has let go who wanted more game time. And yet ...

Sane Jesus Sterling

Palmer Toure Sancho

Porro Garcia Laporte Cancelo

Hart

I disagree. The first few games he came on as a sub, showed he was not overawed. Then I thought this guy could be better than Foden.

In some ways he reminds me of a 70s player.
Loads of ability, bit flashy etc. Guess he didn't fit the team ethos. Phil has had to reign in some of his natural flair to nail down a spot as has Grealish.
