He wanted out so no clanger at all what are we meant to do unsettle the dressing room, just to forcefully keep a player who wants out?
Because I'll say the obvious that is not and never will be worth it, Cole in my opinion knew exactly what he was doing by asking guarantees, nobody ever gets guarantees here about game time not even out best.
A shame he did as I honestly believe he'd have got chances, also believe we only actually went for Nunes due to his exit contrary to popular belief. Palmer decided he wanted out and I think we rushed to replace him with Nunes, everything told me that Palmer would mainly be used centrally long-term with some appearances out wide, although not too similar that's pretty much where Nunes has played all his games.
I told my mate who always strangely hated Palmer and was happy to see him go, not to be surprised if by the end of this season he's Chelsea's best player and already earned an England call up. He laughed and said he's never playing for England but he's not laughing anymore, still I'm not quite sure he should've been capped yet but that's Southgate for you a proper moron. None of what Palmer is doing for them comes as a surprise to me, not in the slightest I actually at least expected what he's doing.
He's a great talent but we certainly didn't drop a clanger though because he wanted out, many more top talents will leave here in a similar fashion to the way Cole did as this academy honestly hasn't even started producing what it will yet. We have become even more dominant at youth level across all younger ages since we first noticed Palmer, so don't be surprised if we're producing Cole Palmer level talents once every 3-5 years that's how amazing our youth setup is.
Losing players of his talent are inevitable when our academy is this good, however don't twist it as it's impossible for us to ever drop a clanger with a player who actually wanted to leave.
