Cole Palmer

What is wrong with some people
Not everybody follows team this much I guess. Both Pep's and Palmer's public stanpoints were absolutely clear: Cole wanted to play more, starting eleven, and Pep's could not promise him it, he asks him to stay and fight for his place. Palmer made quite reasonable choice. He would fight and probably failed at game time over players like Foden/Alvarez/Grealish/Haaland, not mentioning KDB, Bernardo Silva or - what was known at stage of Palmer's transfer - Doku.

In the end of the day is to much to ask for Cole, regarding his numbers at the senior stage. I mean he was rookie with much talent. And he the best player at Chelsea immediately. Its by the way proof, how well coached are our players and from Academy. Unpopular truth is we should support Palmer. It makes good reputation for acadamy players and making profit of deals. Palmer, even on current, fantastic form, would not get to City's first 11 anyway. Maybe, just maybe now with injuries. But certainly not when Haaland and KDB are additionally back.

And a great thing and the end is. We have Osbar Bobb. And guy really looks a real deal. And thanks to Cole to Chelsea, he receives proper minutes.

Win win business. Great staff

If we keep selling academy players each year bringing in tens of millions then it’s inevitable that some fans will rue ‘the one that got away’.

We’ve got a great academy production line but realistically only one player every couple of years will break through. That means we offload a dozen or so each year that currently can’t play at the highest elite level at a young age. Some of them will go onto shine for other clubs.

It’s also essential that some do make it at the highest level. Teams will come to us trying to sign the next Cole Palmer. We can’t keep demanding huge fees if they all flop after leaving us.
That is a fair point, it's only annoying when a lot of us were saying that this particular trf was a mistake. I know the wanted to leave bit but I am sure Foden thought that when he struggled to get minutes but the club put faith in him and i imagine showed him a lot of love so he stayed. Palmer is a rare gem, a creative type who has flair and big game character. Not many around, the ones who are will cost you north of £100m Lots of us voiced this the day the rumors started about him going. Very sad to see as the form he is showing for a top prem side was very predictable - lots can go, big up the academy, drive fund, help keep the prices high etc...BUT the rare time we get a Cole Palmer, treat him like Foden and we would have benefitted,

So emotional take of course of things. This is professional level of doing things. People know what is the game, because they are inside, they live with collegues, who go from academy worldwide. Cole is a great talent. But Pep could not promise him starting 11. Would You? With Haaland, Foden, Alvarez, Bernardo Silva (quite often RW), KDB and Doku to come?

Palmer is still the unfinished article, albeit with a decent potential ceiling. I think it was a combination of the players expectations and his attitude that saw him out the door. As we've seen numerous times with the current management setup, ability can only get you so far. You need to have the patience, temperament and attitude to be able to make it in this team. and with so few squad places available, there is no room for players who aren't willing to give 100% on all fronts.

We did well to offload him at a decent price, and we wouldn't have sold him if the management team didn't think we had enough cover as backup. Good luck to the lad. I hope he prospers at Chelsea, just not against us.
I agree that his public demeanor doesn't inspire much love - and as Dyche always said ''Misery always finds a friend'' Pep is so good he may have seen this coming, if CP got petulant he could bring the squad down. You sense that CP would be nutmegging players in training doing daft tricks to wind up players on the training ground if he wasn't getting in the team. I can only imagine that was on the managerial staff's mind - if it was purely a football decision then i think its a rare bad one.

Course he wanted to leave - he wasn't afforded the love we gave Phil when he was probably having doubts - missed opportunity for me but i just sensed that Pep was not really up for this particular fight - shame..City's loss
Wasn’t he? I’d say he got similar chances to Foden but never made the most of them. Not City’s loss, in fact think every one wins from the deal, chelsea, Palmer and City. Think Bobb is showing that he’s making more of his first team opportunities than Palmer did.
