Cole Palmer

Given himself a nickname for his "brand"

Says it all about his attitude.

Young Engerland player syndrome all over again.

Looks decent in a mid table side. Could have knuckled down and become world class in a trophy winning side.

Money talked over talent.

Good player, but not good enough to consistently get in the champions first XI. No shame in that, glad hes doing well.
Exactly this. Never saw him have an excellent game for us. Periodic flashes of what could be, but nothing more.

I hope that he reaches his potential because there is a world of possibility ahead of him if he gets it right and has a bit of luck.

Wish him every success at Chelsea and beyond.

Unless your on a wind up, you sound quite bitter about it.

His attitude at city was to train hard and show pep he was good enough to be in our squad. If it was that bad pep wouldn’t have wanted him to stay.

He’s looked excellent for Chelsea. Who know maybe he will become world class or maybe he won’t.

Bobb has barely played, so i think it’s a bit early to compare. Palmer in quite a few games was excellent. In the champions. League and the community shield he did take his chances - it’s very difficult when you barely play to show consistency though.

I’d like to see Bobb get more minutes, but it’s similar to palmer I just can’t see how he’s going to consistently play when everyone’s fit.
That’s all true, but whenever I saw Palmer in games my son and myself left the ground saying we weren’t sure Palmer quite had what it takes with his decision making. That pass to Foden was exactly the sort of decision and execution we never saw from Palmer.
Agree though with a fully fit squad not sure where he gets minutes.

Yeah; I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter what team a player supported as a kid. How many of our regular first teamers were blues growing up? Haaland, Foden....?
Rico Lewis is as well. Who you support as a 6 year old is pretty irrelevant. In Manchester chances are you’re either city or United and when they spend their entire youth at one club, who you support becomes irrelevant. Most young players end up supporting or respecting the club either way.

Have Palmer ever played LW? Genuine question. And its not that important, because still - at full strenght he does not overcome Grealish/Doku duo, or even Foden when Pep calls for Bernardo as RW or Alvarez. Hes far from being better than those players. Plus I disagree about Grealish. Hes work for us is still so underrated, both impact with attack and defense.
Well we shall have to agree to dissagree, Grealish is very hit and miss for me. Great last season, but hasn't been on top form this season. Grealish plays LW but hasnt got a left foot pass in him. He is only playing as Doku is injured , Doku offers more going forwards and so does Palmer imo.

It's a pisser when you get old and the memory starts to go.

:-(

My take:

He wanted more playing time. Pep told him with Mahrez leaving he would get more. He still wanted to leave.
So we sold him.

I honestly believe he has great potential. He is instinctive with the ball and can find the back of the net.
However, i never felt he showed that fully while with us. Flashes maybe, but not the world standard to get a regular place in the squad.

Now the thing is, there was no guarantees of him getting enough football to realise his full potential.
So i don't blame him for wanting to move.
Their is nothing wrong with a hungry player wanting to risk a move. It may work out it may not.
It is his choice, his gamble.

On a football level, i don't give a shit how he develops, now he has left us.

On a personal level, i can only wish the best for him. I hope he has a terrific career and is a complete success!

That's far too logical for this forum.
