Cole Palmer

Vialli retired in 99 so he wasn’t included.

Hasselbaink
Gudjohnsen
Drogba
Anelka
Costa

Perhaps you could include Crespo in there. Zola wasn’t much of a striker. He was more a 10, at a push you could say he was a second striker. Flo was a decent striker back in the day but it was pre 2000.

Sheva was pretty underwhelming at Chelsea. As was Torres. Weah was only here for 6 months. Further big money flops were Lukaku, Werner and Morata.
Forgot all about Costa.

I saw him a couple of times for Atletico at the Vicente Calderon. The ideal player for their feisty never-say-die attitude.
I was also present when Shevchenko scored for Milan in the Nou Camp circa 2004-05. From memory Eto'o equalised and Ronaldinho netted a spectacular winner in the last minute.
Great player, but like you say, underwhelming for Chelsea.

Pep hasn’t made a mistake. None of us know what discussions took place but I would imagine he moved on because we wouldn’t guarantee playing time and he figured it would be difficult to get minutes with Doku coming in……

Fair play to him for backing himself at chelsea…
None of us know the details but so far it looks like we should have done everything to keep him and he looks a much better player than Doku. Time will tell. Palmer could be a one-season wonder or he could develop into an elite level star.

Chelsea and competent striker? We've only had like 5 of those the last 25 years. We're not all blessed with going from Aguero to Haaland.
We didn't go from Aguero to Haaland though did we.

We didn't have a proper centre forward for ages and played a false 9 for a couple of seasons.

Meanwhile since about 2000 you've had

Jimmy Floyd and Gudjohnsen,

then you added Mutu.

You then swapped to Kezman and Drogba with a couple of decent back-ups about 5 years later.

Then Crespo.

Then you added Anelka.

Then you added Torres (he was shit for you but still)

Then you added Lukaku and Sturridge.

Then Costa...etc...etc...etc

You've been blessed with cenre-forwards mate

Please note the conversation was about competent strikers. Now rethink that entire list. You’ve added Kezman and Mutu, one of which was utter crap for us and the other was drug addict who we had to sack, after he was banned from football.

Torres
Lukaku
Morata
Werner
Mutu
Kezman
Ba
Remy
Sheva

None of these were competent strikers for us. Bit harsh in Ba, he was alright but it’s the equivalent of us getting Danny Ings to play for us for 6 months.

Crespo was pretty ok but nothing great or memorable and he was homesick almost immediately after coming here and was back on loan in Italy 12 months after signing. Sturridge was decent but never really got a fair chance because we kept signing more underwhelming strikers to play ahead of him. At one point we had Ba, Torres, Sturridge and he was the best of the 3 but he was 3rd choice the entire time.

There’s a reason people say we’re a graveyard for strikers. That’s because we are. We keep signing strikers that were brilliant at other clubs and then proceed to ruin them.

Yeah fair enough you didn’t go directly from Aguero to Haaland but you had Jesus as the filler in between, and you also had Gundogan randomly turn into prime R9 one season haha.

Jesus, the "striker" who moaned and moaned that he wanted to play as a centre-forward whilst Aguero was here but as soon as Aguero left he started telling everyone that he was a winger. That Jesus? Yeah?

Not much wrong with my list mate IMO.
Jimmy Floyd and Gudjohnsen - both class forwards.
Mutu - class for 12months IMO, no different from buying him one year and then selling him the next. Still a class striker.
Drogba - a cvnt but still class
Kezman - Better than Wilfred Bony
Crespo - 10 league goals a season for 2 seasons isn't too shabby
Anelka - CLASS
Torres - not a success for your lot but still a perfectly good striker who were better than a fat unhealthy Blobby Fowler
Lukaku - Your lot just didn't fancy him and loaned him out, still a great striker
Costa - a cvnt but still class

PS - If you're bringing Gundogan into the conversation can I include Zola, Roben, Mata, Malouda, Hazard, Lampard, Duff, Willian and Joe Cole? ;)

Wouldn’t be surprised at all if he ends up at his boyhood club in the future. Once a rag always a rag.
Professional players don't really keep allegencies to the club they liked at about 6 yrs old. He was probably 8 or 9 when playing kids football with us.
