Cole Palmer

KdB is basically out of my mind for this season as he is out for 4 months.

Then I said I dont think of Bernie and Foden as wingers anymore.

Thats the rationale you tell Palmer.
You might not but our manager most likely considers them able to play in that position.

I think when everyone is fit, Palmer is likely to be on the bench for the majority of games and I suspect he thinks/knows that too.

Have a look on the Newcastle pre-game thread and see how many have Palmer in the starting line-up and that's without Doku, Paqueta or any new players coming in (and with a few injuries). If we bring those 2 in, then Palmer is likely to get pushed even further away from being a regular starter.

If Grealish, Bernardo and Foden play the same minutes they did last season, which was really whenever they were fit and available. Who makes up Mahrez's 3000+ minutes? That's before some of Kevin's time needing covered while he is out. If Palmer can't see enough of an opening there, then he really should go. Even if we do bring in another winger, he will be new and need time to settle, and there is still plenty there to fight for.

Seems a bit of an ingrate.

As I said, no doubt Palmer will get plenty of minutes. It's just a case of whether or not that it will be enough for him. I suspect we will bring another player or two in and Palmer is unlikely to be a regular starter when/if we have a fully fit squad.

Possibly. People can't go about blaming the club though, for not giving him a chance.

Given Guardiola’s reticence in using the fullness of the bench, young players on the fringe will naturally surmise that their playing time will continue to be restricted, and if more players are signed, then that time could be reduced further. That’s just the way it is at the club: Guardiola prefers a smaller pool of first-team regulars and tends to favour a three-goal cushion before introducing youngsters from the bench. However, if the absence of de Bruyne, Gundogan, and Mahrez now reduces the number of our goal-scoring opportunities and it takes us much longer in games to get the cushion or we fail to get it, then there are likely to be even fewer minutes available for those on the bench. I hope Palmer and McAtee stay, but I can understand fully if they wish to try their hand elsewhere.

There's a massive Mahrez sized hole in front of Cole Palmer covered in neon lights and huge arrows with the words 'GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY' written in 10 foot letters in front of it.

Not true, Ally McCoist said the other day we had an enormous squad. He's not just going to make that up out of thin air is he.
