Colin Bell RIP - Ian Cheeseman interview with Jon Bell (P142)

Am in shock as if I’ve lost a family member. Colin was the reason I started to support City. And my hero from being a small boy into my teens. I was devastated when he got injured, thrilled when he finally returned. It was like a circle of life moment for me when Colin came onto the pitch for the trophy presentations when we won the league under Mancini. My first hero joining my current ones. I am numb today. RIP Colin The King and thank you for all the joy and memories, and making me become a Blue.

RIP Colin The King . You gave City fans some incredible memories . I went to the barbers and asked for a Colin Bell haircut , in those days . Remember when we signed him from Bury and remember the tackle that finished his carrier . Then his comeback , running with a limp through the pain barrier . The true memory is of the greatest player our club ever had . To be remembered how he has been remembered tells you how great he was .

RIP the King.

From someone young enough to never see him play yet completely understand what he means to us as supporters and as a club.

Heartbreaking news, I'll have a drink to him tonight.

I shed a tear just now for King Colin, Nijinski, the greatest player ever in sky blue. Colin, what a pleasure and a privilege to have stood on the old Kippax and watched in awe as you strode majestically over the Maine Road turf. And what strides, one minute at left back helping to repel boarders, the next rising high to head powerfully into the net. Shooting, tackling, passing, carrying the ball with physical determination into enemy territory; there was no aspect of the game at which you did excel. Cruelly cut down in your pomp, you showed immense courage and determination to come back. Sadly the knee did not hold for too long and you were forced into retirement.
No blue could ever forget you, and we never will.
RIP, Legend.
