Colour clashes and third kit

Here's a thought .... 'You don't have to buy every kit, every season!' ..... strange concept I know .... some might even think there is logic in it lol

3rd kits are usually there if the away kit clashes with the home teams kit or the referee's. (hence why ref's have 3/4 kits now). Also there for TV and the players, if the kits blend together at certain distances.

No one wants to blame their bad performances on the fact they cant see each other .. who'd do a daft thing like that?

..... Oh ........ I don't know .......... I can maybe think of ONE person ..... ???

What really gets on my nerves is when a local derby, where there is no colour clash, has a team playing in their away shirt. Examples lately of is Newcastle at Sunderland and Tottenham at Arsenal. Really gets up my nose and I would be gutted if we every played in anything but blue against the Rags.

Agreed.

Newcastle and Sunderland both in white stripes can be confusing.

Same West Brom who whoever else is similar.

Money!! No other reason. When I was a kid in the 80's one new kit came out a year. A home kit one year and an away the next. That was my birthday/Xmas present sorted each year!
Now it's 3 kits a year. FFP was always going to sting the fans. Nice one platini.
We've been doing this since the days of Joe Royle and Le Coq Sportif, though. Platini was only remembered for his footballing and FFPR meant nowt back then.

You had to keep it for two years in 80s & 90s - but then rule was relaxed.

Copied and pasted from the Premier League site:

How often can a club change their kit?

There is no Premier League rule to say how often clubs must change their kits or a rule governing how long a kit must be worn for.

The life cycle of a club kit should be made clear at the point of sale when purchased.

Each club shall have a home and away strip, worn in accordance with the provisions of the rules
.

THe reasons therefore for 3rd kits is financial revenue!

OK, I understand the away and 3rd kit from the club's point of view. It's revenue and cynical.

But what about supporters? Why does anyone wear a shirt other than a sky blue one to a game? OK, I can see the attraction of a red & black one as it is associated with successful seasons - and ace, but the others..? I don't know; do United fans go to matches in black or blue & black shirts? Do Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton fans wear the away colours to games? Is it just that City have had away and 3rd kit shirts that appeal aesthetically?

Didn't we play Spurs one season at home in the fog and changed to the away shirt at half time?

If so were Spurs in white and did the ref ask us to change or was it just because our players couldn't pick one another out?

Next season: Home kit clashes with Aston Villa and West Ham, who both have light blue sleeves. If there is any incident where a player's arm is involved the referee needs to be a able to distinguish colours. This would be the same for Arsenal & Spurs. It's not too important for shorts but I would have thought it would be for socks, although the ref can probably distinguish between the different garish colours of boots that the players wear today.

Rumour has it that Arsenal started having white sleeves to make it easier for the ref could see them appealing for offside. Don't know if it's true.

Why would you be arsed what anyone wears to a match?

We actually started the game in maroon and it wasn't until about five minutes in that I realised we weren't playing in blue. Spurs were wearing their all yellow kit that day
