Come On Chelsea (match thread)

Guillem Balague had a good point on his twitter:

This final will encourage teams to defend and possession football will have to have a rethink - football will grow and adapt again.

Chelseas performances against Barcelona and Bayern Munich may come across to many as anti-football but at the end of the day they won the cup.

Barcelona set the benchmark for a new invigorating style of football in possession football but teams are understanding and learning how to beat them - you always need a plan b if you know you are not strong enough and Chelsea proved this in the Champions League!

Dont really agree with him, if they had put 1 or 2 of their 35 chances away, game over. A lot of our opposition including the rags have tried that to no avail, but still some have had sucess against us. Its a very risky strategy to adopt.

dissappointed because they'll overshadow our achievement in the media.

dissappointed because the cunts like Terry, Lampard, Drogba and Cole have something they don't deserve.

delighted because Twitcher and Spuds miss out on CL.

Mixed feelings really...
Terry and Cole I can understand. But Drogba donates ALL of his sponsorship money to an African poverty charity and what has Lampard ever done to incur hatred? All of them deserve it as footballers, and this is a footballing trophy.

Bad bad night for City as CFC are going to rival us for every player and suddenly they are title rivals for 2012/13. They can buy who they want now. if they had lost, players would have ignored them, and they'd have difficulty getting past FFP
Chelsea are going to spend big no matter what.

When we were out of the champs league we signed Silva and Yaya. Chelsea can attract the best with or without CL

Spot on. Chelsea have been the exception, not the rule. Besides, what's the plan B for an all out attack team against a team intent on parking the bus? Park their own bus? You just keep attacking and stack the odds in your favour. You may lose the odd game to the counter attack sucker punch, but it doesn't mean your approach was wrong. Total attacking possession football will beat a parked bus 9 times out of 10. If Barca still had the Villa/Messi/Pedro front line we probably wouldn't even be discussing defensive football.
