Every comic needs a good script. Many write their own of course but, particularly with sitcoms, a writer or a team is needed and someone has to invent the situation in the first place. Step forward then, Bill Prady, American writer, producer, director etc and his genius work The Big Bang Theory.
Imagine him selling the idea to tv execs:
"Well, it is about a group of genius physicists whom are obsessed with scifi films and tv and with comic books and super heroes. They are full on nerds with no social skills at all. The lead character is autistic, another is dumb in the presence of women. Another is a typical jewish momma's boy, obsessed with sex but hopelessly unsuccessful with women. Another is needy but almost normal with anxiety issues created by his demanding mother. He gets the beautiful girl in the end. All the science in the series is real and accurate, co-written by university professors, including the mathematical formulae which will drive many episodes."

Big Bang ran for 12 years and was the most watched comedy of its day. The main character, Sheldon Cooper, is an astonishing feat in the characterisation, the script, the direction and the acting of Jim Parsons.
