Could it be Wembley overkill, prices, time of the match, time to get there for a ridiculous friendly?

It shouldn't be at that ground or at that time, enough is enough.

There are lots of good reasons not to go, as there were for the last cup final, the one before that etc.

I would love it to be moved around, but I just think its a convenient one to choose and people should not demand others follow suit.

If people don't want to go and you have provided good reasons why they wouldn’t, then they are right not to go. My comments were in response to those pressuring others.

No of course I dont think people will boycott a Champs League final or a Super Cup final regardless of cost, difficulty of location, organisation responsible etc but then I find it difficult to be told I should boycott another match, when the cost , difficulty of location, organisation responsible etc is much more palatable than the match I last attended.

The thing about undertaking a boycott is it means more if there is a sacrifice by those not attending, but lets be honest many fans don't fancy this, including myself, which is fine, but lets not dress it up as a boycott and encourage/put pressure on others not to attend.

On the flip side the idea of donating to a manchester foodbank is a great idea. Will defo donate my ticket money.

It's up to you if you want to boycott the match or not. Nobody is forcing you to do it.

Again, you are comparing different reasons to go or not to go to Istanbul and London.

I've already touched on the CL final and Istanbul.

I've been to London and Wembley finals on numerous occasions like you and many other City fans have. That can't be said about a CL final and Istanbul. A once in a lifetime opportunity, which I couldn't miss. I'll be honest.

I no longer go to cup semi-finals at Wembley. I refuse to bankroll the FA or Wembley stadium anymore. My ticket goes to another City fan. I'm happy that City fan gets a chance to see City at Wembley.

It's a glorified over priced friendly. Did we won it last year? Can't remember and don't give a fuck. City and Arsenal should both boycott it
Let me remind you
It was at Leicester against LiVARpool.
Great atmosphere and day out despite the result. CTID

I agree the kick off time is an issue, and we should try and get it moved, if a threat of boycott achieves that ,great. Are you saying though if the kick off is moved then there should be no boycott?
Not quite - I’m saying if the kick-off time was a more reasonable one, there would be less talk of a boycott. The trouble with that is that the horse has already bolted as they’ll look like right twats if they change the kick-off time now as many fans have already made their minds up.

I must say that I’m actually surprised that the KO time was announced so early. From memory, they normally keep us waiting a fair bit longer.

This, or if you want to boycott a game at least boycott the the game UEFA are organising which means another long expensive trip for a game as meaningless as the community shield, but this time late on a Wednesday night.
The comparison isn't there though

the european super cup venue and date is picked 2 years before and 99% of the time will be 2 team from different countries so it is well known if you win either uefa comp you will most likely be travelling abroard and at expense so it simply comes down to if you wish to spend the money for it and book a few days holiday.

The community shield date is set weeks after the end of the season between 2 english teams, the FA and TV broadcaster can, for every seasons match opt to choose a venue and time to accomodate both competing teams fans, they choose not to and so it is understandable if a fan base, be it ours or someone elses decides a Sunday late evening schlep to london is a joke and therefore rightly boycotted by those who wish too.

Anyone who wants to go should go without criticism, but should not criticise anyone who boycots either

I was on the fence about this one, but will make sure I go now, I won't be told which games I can & can't attend.

The game is always at Wembley, it's nearly always on a Sunday. The only surprise is the kick off time. If it was CL or FA cup final there would be no talk of a boycott.

If people don't want to go, then feel free, but don't try and tell everyone else what they should do.

The point is the 17:30 kick off. It’s unnecessary and needlessly makes life difficult for many fans travelling down from Manchester.

The game could have been 12:30, 14:00, even 16:00 which all would have made travel more flexible.

They are valuing the TV audience over real fans. That’s wrong.

Going and putting up with that shit is muggy. I’d rather make my point, stay at home, and give some money to a charity that makes a difference in MY community.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the best two Community Shields we’ve played in since 2011 for atmosphere have been at Villa Park in 2012 and the King Power last year.

I do think the poll should be more specific.
I'm all for the boycott, but living in Florida obviously I won't be going.
I think the poll should be
Would you go to the game if the kick off was 12.30pm

3pm

5.30pm

I had no intention of going at all

As has been said, those with no intention of going are hardly boycotting the game
No reason why it couldn’t have been 12.45 on the Saturday or the Sunday. Yes it’s an earlier start but it’s far better than 5.30 on the Sunday. Which fuckwit decided that was a good idea. Somebody who has never had to buy a ticket or organise and pay for transport, food etc I imagine. If the ko was 3.00 or earlier on Saturday or Sunday I would have been more likely to have gone as would many others. Fans are always being shafted but nobody gives a fuck, maybe now is the time. No reason why five games in the PL can’t be 3.00 on a Saturday and the remains five the same time on a Sunday and all ten can be televised live.
