Complaint to the FA Premier League re the Berbatov saga

I heard that Aston Villa are going to throw the game against Chelsea at weekend in exchange for Ashley Cole and £2 million and as non of the member teams are going to raise a fuss its all perfectly legal.

Monty, your tenacity and in this case has to be admired but i have a point to raise that i think is crucial to the saga.

How can the FA deem it illegal for one person to talk to another in a public place (airport)

And then get in their car and let them drive them to their ground.......

When the two people have not been given permission to speak to each other by the power thats controls one of the person's contracts.

The outcome of what happened when Dimitar Berbatov reached Manchester is more than conclusive evidence of what these two people were discussing publically and privately.

The poster who said that it seems the governing bodies are unfit to run the League are correct. I think if Monty scratches enough at the surface, he may end up exposing a much larger, older wound infrested within our 'beautiful game'.

They can't. No contract on earth has the power to prevent two people talking to each other be it privately or publicly. One or both parties may be bound by contract over the subjects they discuss or information they reveal however you need proof that any conversation did indeed breech matters say of confidentiality.

The fact that Berbatov met Fergie at the airport or gave him a lift in his car proves nothing save the obvious ie that they did meet and Berbs did get a lift. Berbatov has the right to decline to meet Hughes which is what he did as there is no way Fergie could really prevent the player from meeting whoever the hell he wanted. Berbatov has a right to decide who he wishes to work for and neither Spurs nor anyone else has the power to stop this happening save perhaps Spurs holding him to his contract which is pointless as it wouldn't last 5 minutes under a legal challenge and makes absolutely no sense either commercially or in football terms if the party wishing to buy Berbs is waving 30 mill quid under your nose and keeping the player is having an adverse effect on team morale.

The FA will just keep politely answering your emails until one or both sides gets bored and the media will take absolutely no interest in the story because there isn't one. Finally none of the parties directly involved have any complaint to make over this issue so is it not somewhat presumptive and even arrogant for someone else who was not directly involved to try and cause trouble over it?

It's not arrogant. If you boil it down to the basics, the whole affair was dodgy and, most fans I have spoken too (some of which support clubs not involved in this matter) perceive Utd's actions as an attempt to force the sale of Berbatov to Utd. The fact that he wanted to go there is irrelevant. The focus here is on potential violations of Premier League rules, which Monty has intelligently broken down.

Monty has suggested that Utd and Spurs reached a private agreement to avoid the necessity for Spurs to officially highlight Utd's violation of the rules, which virtually renders the rulebook useless (i.e. you can buy your way out of trouble). There is enough info in the public domain to suggest this is the case and it is reasonable to assume a governing body should investigate these events. That the PL are saying they don't have to concerns fans of the game and, as Levy himself said, suggests the process needs reviewing.

By all means lets get down to the basics

Berbatov wanted to play for ManU
ManU wanted Berbatov to play for them
Spurs didn't want Berbatov to go or to sign for ManU
Spurs got 30 mill by way of compensation

So lets check and see how the interested parties are feeling

ManU happy
Berbatov happy
Spurs well not entirely happy but 30 mill soothes away a lot of unhappiness and business is business

And lets check on how everyone else is feeling

FA and PL happy that everyone is happy
Media couldn't care less because everyone is happy and lets face it misery sells papers happiness doesn't
Bluemoon forum very unhappy and demands action

Spot the odd one out
