Why are they thick? Some intelligent people don't vote either I would assume. If people have to do it then they are encouraged to engage with politics and the political process

I am for it along with proportional representation. People may engage more if their vote might make a difference.

no not compulsary. How will they measure how fucked off we are with the state of democracy if we forced into voting.

No problem with an option of "I dont want to vote" but forcing, then presumably fining, and putting into prison anyone who doesnt vote? wtf

I would say Yes - democracy is hampered when people choose to not vote - there however should be an option on ALL ballot papers that represents "I do not want to vote for any candidate on the ballot paper"

No, no..it shouldn't be compulsory! Not voting is voting, in a way. I don't vote, well, I tried once years ago.. Labour was my desired option I think but the pen didn't work, I took it as a sign from God and pointlessly scratched the paper for Lib Dem instead
