Did anyone watch that documentary a few years ago, I think it was presented by Grub Smith? In it, he mentioned how during the second world war, a staggering percentage of soldiers actually fired over the heads of the enemy because even under extreme circumstances, the act of killing another human being was a step they just couldn't take. Were they cowards? No, just normal joes who had no real wish to be there but for the fear of being called cowards if they refused to go.
If only they knew at the time that the father and grandfather of two future American presidents was a major player in the bank that financed the Nazi war machine. Or, how would they feel if they knew about the Coca Cola company sponsering the Hitler youth at the time?
I think they would have gone and give their lives anyway because they were more afraid of being called cowards....

It's a theoretical question of course because technology, politics, diplomacy and war studies etc have taken us beyond the days of mass conscription.

My answer is yes I would fight in principle but it would depend on the political and moral circumstances.

My theory is that people would be conscripted into civilian roles depending on their skills and capabilities.
