It's a theoretical question of course because technology, politics, diplomacy and war studies etc have taken us beyond the days of mass conscription.

My answer is yes I would fight in principle but it would depend on the political and moral circumstances.

My theory is that people would be conscripted into civilian roles depending on their skills and capabilities.

Do you think that people should be allowed not to fight on ground of conscience,be that moral, ethical, religious or whatever?

You really are utterly thick, aren't you?
Who called who a cock here Einstein?
I have already stated pages ago that I would not fight for my country, and explained why.
It doesn't matter whether or not a war is 'justified',(and that is purely subjective anyway).
I can't help it if you are too stupid to take that on board.

You told me to wind my neck in...Like you are someone better than me when actually you don't know me and I don't know you. You post on a forum then I have every right to question your opinion/posts yet when you don't like it you get all fucking upity.
Thick...no I just don't profess to pretend to be something I am not.
Yes I would fight for my country - again if I was asked to.
Unlike many who forget the sacrifices that many millions of people made to give you the freedom you are accustomed to. Yeah,I am a thick **** aren't I. Glad clowns like you were NOT in the trenches behind me. !!

Good.
Because I would be back at home watching the racing with a pint whilst contemplating a wank, while you were doing the male bonding bit in the trenches, getting bitten by rats and getting shot at.
I'd say that makes me the sensible one here.

At last-you have admitted what a fucking coward you are. Your bonding is with the guvnors isn't it..The hard boys!! YCNMIU....

What an utterly ignorant, humourless tool you are.
Do you even know what 'conscientious' means?
Posters have told me what a trolling pain in the arse you were, but I thought I'd give you the benefit of the doubt.
How right they were.

Josh - how do you know that? Please provide me with evidence otherwise you are just making statements that you cannot co-oberate.

Did anyone watch that documentary a few years ago, I think it was presented by Grub Smith? In it, he mentioned how during the second world war, a staggering percentage of soldiers actually fired over the heads of the enemy because even under extreme circumstances, the act of killing another human being was a step they just couldn't take. Were they cowards? No, just normal joes who had no real wish to be there but for the fear of being called cowards if they refused to go.
If only they knew at the time that the father and grandfather of two future American presidents was a major player in the bank that financed the Nazi war machine. Or, how would they feel if they knew about the Coca Cola company sponsering the Hitler youth at the time?
I think they would have gone and give their lives anyway because they were more afraid of being called cowards....
Yes it was total bollocks.

The simple answer is yes because a modern war would require a huge extra army of non-combatants.

I cannot concieve of any person who would refuse a civilian non combat role on any grounds although BM *may* have a few.
