No, because the point is that such comparisons are irrelevant. Tevez's worth is what a team is willing to pay for him. We can hold out for £50m if we want, but we won't get it. Teams wanted Torres, Villa and Aguero, and that's what determined their value. But no one in Europe is currently interested in Tevez. We can say we think he's worth £50m all we want, but until someone stumps up that amount, he isn't.

they only got those fees because they held out
We're going round in circles here!!

Ok, let's hold out and see what happens. But i'll bet you now that no bid of more than £40m will be submitted because no team thinks he's actually worth that much.

Never mind 'hold out for more' - crikey, this is fantastic news for City! He's never worth more than £35m and those wages were pricing him out of going to many clubs as it was. Let's just be grateful this is happening so quickly, take the money and run for the hills!

At £50m and £250k a week? We'll have to agree to disagree then.

A deal with Corinthians would suit both parties in so many ways. If it's true, this is the one I see happening.

But yea, we'll have to agree to disagree on taking the first offer available even though it's less than what he's worth. £40 million would be ok for me, i could live with that. £35 mill is too little, especially when Aguero will cost another £10 mill on that

Yep, I think it's stupid to say that 'We can hold out for £50m if we want, but we won't get it. Teams wanted Torres, Villa and Aguero, and that's what determined their value. But no one in Europe is currently interested in Tevez'. Pretty much every club in Europe would want Tevez. Torres, Villa & Aguero's value was purely determined by their value on the pitch. Any club considering Tevez will factor in the potential for trouble further down the line. This directly affects his value in the market place and City know this only too well.

Take the money and move on..

Fabregas is worth considerably more than £35m in the current market place.

But Arsenal won't get it and neither will we for Carlos.

Anything close to £40m would be an absolute brilliant piece of business.

It's also very cute by the Tevez camp, the Brazilian transfer deadline is nearing and knew City would be presented with a major decision.

As for Brazil and what they can afford. Their economy is absolutely booming.

Conversely the transfer deadline in Brazil could be viewed to be in City's favour Corinthians need to get a deal done in 10 days............City don't!
Why do we need to be rushed into a lesser fee? We still have a very very good player if he doesn't move................play hardball City!

I'd sell up and get cracking with a replacement.

All that will happen is any other club interested, probably Real Madrid, will hang on until the last week knowing he will be forcing a move by then and they will try and get him on the cheap

Just sell him and get Aguero in as his replacement ASAP

The only way we get the £50m we are seemingly after is if we manage to get 2 or more top level clubs seriously interested in him. If, say, Real and Inter both set their stalls out to get Tevez then, yes, maybe £50m is obtainable. However, without a few teams bidding against each other, we won't achieve anything like £50m. We might be able to push someone up to £40m (at which point I'd be willing to accept the offer) but that is likely the limit. Ok, so ultimately it's our prerogative as to whether we sell or not, but can you really see this transfer window ending and Tevez still being a City player?

I can't see us getting even £40m for him from a European team that are also willing to match his wages. I just think he comes with too much baggage. I'm not advocating taking this offer because it's the first; I'm advocating it because I actually believe it is about as good an offer as we will get. I just don't see a mad scramble for him happening.

That only works if Corinthians are absolutely desperate to sign him, if the bid is just a speculative one or if they're looking at other targets as well then they may not come back with a higher bid.

Because there is nobody else at the table. The South American aspect of the bid is also a 'game-changer'.

Corinthians is the perfectly-manufactured scenario for Tevez. He gets to go closer to home on the same monies.

Keeping Carlos won't achieve anything, aside from further pissing off a player we will have denied such an opportunity.

It would be Fabregas multiplied by a thousand. He is a depreciating asset.

Joorabachian is many things, but he is also a highly-skilled operator. He will no doubt be paid handsomely by a club he already retains a stake in.

City's owners will not want to be seen as a soft touch, but nor will they want to be seen cutting our nose to spite our face.

Hmmm suppose we'll see. I'd hang fire for a short while with there being 8 days to go for Corinthians to do a deal anyway. I still think Madrid will come in with an offer, they might even have a few players for swap deals that could appeal to us
