Corinthians make 35 million bid for tevez (MERGED)

The only way we get the £50m we are seemingly after is if we manage to get 2 or more top level clubs seriously interested in him. If, say, Real and Inter both set their stalls out to get Tevez then, yes, maybe £50m is obtainable. However, without a few teams bidding against each other, we won't achieve anything like £50m. We might be able to push someone up to £40m (at which point I'd be willing to accept the offer) but that is likely the limit. Ok, so ultimately it's our prerogative as to whether we sell or not, but can you really see this transfer window ending and Tevez still being a City player?

Agreed. I can see this is as £35m plus add-ons to take it to £40m, though dependent on Corinthians winning the Libertadores etc etc. But the saving on his wages - £230k a week - "saves" us almost £50m (gross) a year! That's excellent news as regards funding a replacement(s) given FFP...

-- Tue Jul 12, 2011 12:42 pm --

Fabregas is worth considerably more than £35m in the current market place.

But Arsenal won't get it and neither will we for Carlos.

Anything close to £40m would be an absolute brilliant piece of business.

It's also very cute by the Tevez camp, the Brazilian transfer deadline is nearing and knew City would be presented with a major decision.

As for Brazil and what they can afford. Their economy is absolutely booming.

Conversely the transfer deadline in Brazil could be viewed to be in City's favour Corinthians need to get a deal done in 10 days............City don't!
Why do we need to be rushed into a lesser fee? We still have a very very good player if he doesn't move................play hardball City!

That only works if Corinthians are absolutely desperate to sign him, if the bid is just a speculative one or if they're looking at other targets as well then they may not come back with a higher bid.

Corinthians are desperate: they went out of the Libertadores early this year, and the owners/fans weren't happy.

Do you think this has legs? I just can't see it.
To me its just a design to make a number of people look good, Carlos being the first one as his excuse for wanting to leave is being closer to his family, secondly the presidential elections at Corinthians are looming so this makes him look great and last and the most inportant as far as KIA is concerned he will most probably get a bung for it.
To me it just seems like a PR stunt for Calos to say "hay mother fuckers I tried to go home" and Corinthians to say "we tried to get our hero back bet greedy old City wouldn't budge"

All IMO of corse.

You have me at a disadvantage in terms of the current political situations at Corinthians.

But both Carlos and Corinthians can hardly claim the moral high-ground if they do not make a concrete offer.

If they have/do, it's a strange game of bluff if City say okay to £37m.

Joorabachian is involved, so I think this has been perfectly stage-managed to achieve the desired result of a transfer.

Corinthians can't afford it, their head bloke's come out and said so himself. Hoping for a loan deal or some shit like we did with Robihno, as if.

Firstly those people saying things like bight their hands off, good ridance etc etc etc..those people are just giving utd another reason to keep calling us "bitter"...as thats what these people are.....Tevez has been a revelation for this club and has been extremely improtant in gettig us where we are.....the vast majority of his performances since being at the club have been fantastic

so for that I say thank you carlos...you go with my best wished

secondly....those saying we are fine without getting another forward in......that balo and dzeko are good enough or even just enough.....wrong.....

Dzeko has so far proved absolutely nothing in this league......he was average at best in his first half season......yes he may improve given time and this season will be a big season for him......BUT on current performances to date...he isnt fit to lace tevez's boots...those saying dzeko will be the man.....you may be right...but equally you could be very wide of the mark and he may be a complete failure..... i dont want to take that chance

balo - a complete enigma.....looks a genius in the making, has the potential to be one of the very best -BUT will he achieve that or will his very questionable temprament hold him back...He did look to have settled down in the last bit of the season (but at that time he also stopped scoring!) - agina it is a huge risk to tak a chance on him

Therefore we DEFINATELY MUST HAVE A REPLACEMENT.......and one that can fill the void that tevez will leave is going to be very hard to get........

Aguero as virtually everyone says is an obvious candidate but it isnt as simple as some wwho are saying "go get Kun"....there will be other attactive teams out for him....chelski, real madrid and even maybe utd...so there willbe competition

eto'o has already said he wants to stay where he is.....

after those two there is virtually noone else that is either available (Villa has already said he has no interest in leavig barca) or anywhere even close to the same level as tevez

hulk is another option but again as with any player from outside the prem it would be a huge risk

I just pray that firstly RM is going after aguero and none of the other stated targets in the media and secondly that we get him. I really hope that Dzeko and balo live upto their full potential/billing by others as Im not convinced certainly that dzeko has enough to propell us to the heights that tevez has
Is.....there.....something......wrong.......with......your...(.)...key? ;-)

I dont think we will accept 35mill as lets be honest thats a joke
doesn't their transfer window shut in like 10 days?
