If, say, Real and Inter both set their stalls out to get Tevez then, yes, maybe £50m is obtainable. However, without a few teams bidding against each other, we won't achieve anything like £50m. We might be able to push someone up to £40m (at which point I'd be willing to accept the offer) but that is likely the limit. Ok, so ultimately it's our prerogative as to whether we sell or not, but can you really see this transfer window ending and Tevez still being a City player?
Agreed. I can see this is as £35m plus add-ons to take it to £40m, though dependent on Corinthians winning the Libertadores etc etc. But the saving on his wages - £230k a week - "saves" us almost £50m (gross) a year! That's excellent news as regards funding a replacement(s) given FFP...

-- Tue Jul 12, 2011 12:42 pm --

But Arsenal won't get it and neither will we for Carlos.
Anything close to £40m would be an absolute brilliant piece of business.
It's also very cute by the Tevez camp, the Brazilian transfer deadline is nearing and knew City would be presented with a major decision.
As for Brazil and what they can afford. Their economy is absolutely booming.
Conversely the transfer deadline in Brazil could be viewed to be in City's favour Corinthians need to get a deal done in 10 days............City don't!
Why do we need to be rushed into a lesser fee? We still have a very very good player if he doesn't move................play hardball City!
That only works if Corinthians are absolutely desperate to sign him, if the bid is just a speculative one or if they're looking at other targets as well then they may not come back with a higher bid.
Corinthians are desperate: they went out of the Libertadores early this year, and the owners/fans weren't happy.
