As they are still assessing how well Tier 4 is working. May have to delay the next tiers assessment whilst they figure it out.

If it is inevitable surely that means we should have locked down yesterday not tomorrow.

In reality it was a long time before yesterday as most of us realise and will likely be anything they can NOT call a lockdown brought in the day after tomorrow.

This dragging out of every decision is frankly so idiotic it is almost as if aliens in disguise are in charge and doing all they can to make sure our country is wrecked care of a government in league with the Daleks.

Never thought real life could end up being more ridiculous than a cheesy Doctor Who Christmas Special script.

But it sure feels like it right now.

Sadly you miss the point.
You need to identify what is failing with tier 4 restrictions before replacing them.
It's called Scientific Method.
That said it is so bad we need full lockdown now and only lift it once all care home residents, NHS workers and teachers are vaccinated.

PHE are talking about vaccinating at 2m per week. The virus is not going to 'easily outrun' that, at least I hope not! If the virus grows at that level then it will quickly reduce its scope for new growth anyway.

My concern is on the South African variant and its effect on the vaccines.

Totally agree, it was madess not to lockdown and just latest of the govt decisions from not stopping Cheltenham races to now - just utterly bewildering really and it follows that people just not taking it seriously. I live near Rivington and literally 1000s of people gathering and mingling over last week here, some coming from 100 miles away......I have lived here 10 years and never seen in busier!! What will it take to make people take responsibility? 100,000 deaths? 200,000?

The Oxford vaccine pretty much stops all deaths on one dose. But Serious illness is still there as is normal illness.
The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines don't have this information yet.

If these Tiers are scientific method then science is in big trouble.

We do not have time to run experiments with a pandemic.

It is very obvious for multiple reasons that lockdown is the one thing that works best.

Scientific method - as in delay after delay until you hit on a solution that works - KILLS people.

But happily plenty of scientists are well aware of this and have been saying so too.

And you do not need to be a scientist to understand why the tiers have failed. We have been identifying them in here for months.

That sounds like a pretty good idea to me, and they only need around 600k doses total.
