0.7% positivity - was 0.8% last week

Was it the study in SA on about 2000 people (with az) a couple months ago that showed minimal efficacy for mild/moderate illness with the SA variant? Has there been an update to the evidence as I know that was a little while back
Yes, that's all I'm aware of

Just 2 of the 9 were over 80.

3 of the 9 were from Birmngham.

The 1 in the NW was from Tameside.

Had my second jab today in spite of my arm and shoulder never being right from the first one. The nurse asked if I wanted it in the other arm, I told her no I'd rather have one knackered arm as opposed to two, lol.
Good lad chappo you’ll be fine m8,had my 2nd one weds not a problem pal

Regional Cases Today

Cases show up or down on yesterday and the v number is versus 7 days ago.

SOUTH

East down 42 to 134 v 106

London down 150 to 205 v 171 (huge fall on day - biggest today - takes London back below NW today)

South East down 77 to 180 v 111 (Also big fall but like London up week to week)

South West down 45 to 74 v 2 (never trusted that weirdly low umber but not explained)

All the Southern regions up a little week to week but down good numbers day to day.

MIDLANDS

East down 25 to 159 v 154

West UP 3 to 163 v 121

Little change here.

NORTH

North East down 18 to 63 v 63 Lowest in England again today. And exactly the same as last Sunday.

Yorkshire down 70 to 300 v 424 - another good week to week fall but the south did better today. So Yorkshire the only region to reach 300 cases. Just!

Though everywhere is now bunched between around 60 and 300. So populations are the real definer as these obviously differ hugely between - say - the North West and South West.

And, NORTH WEST down 11 to 217 v 170 - so the region is up week to week unlike the other Northern ones.

Any effects from either?
Just minor affects with the first jab. I felt cold on the first evening and was tired on the second evening. That was it:

No affect from the 2nd jab so far. I didn’t feel the needle the first time but the nurse struggled to get the jab in the 2nd time lol. I wish I could say it was due to my intense fitness regime building muscle mass but I think it was a problem with the needle. All sorted in no time though and the nurses were very helpful.

Greater Manchester Cases

125 cases today - down 11 on yesterday the entire NW fall of 11.

This is down 1 week to week. And lowest in 2021 and over six months.

Manchester top scores on just 23 lowest top score for the city in many months and down 16 on day and 15 week to week.

Bolton down 4 to 20 and up 18 on last week. Still struggling and very close to beating Manchester.

Tameside also on 20 up 11 on the day and 13 from last week.

Oldham down 2 to 14 both on the day and on last week.

Stockport - up 4 to 12 on the day and by 2 week to week. Not quite so good here today.

Salford stays on 11 up 2 on 9 last wk.

The other 4 boroughs were in single figures today.

Rochdale on 9 - down 4 in the day and 14 wk to wk - so a much better day here.

Wigan also on 9 which is up 5 on the day and 3 on the week.

Trafford up 1 to 4 - but down by 7 from last week.

And back in the top spot day to day merry go round

Bury one less on just 3 - down 4 on the day and 2 with last week

Weekly cases:-

Bury 53, Trafford 69 , Stockport 76, Tameside 82, Salford 85, Rochdale 97, Wigan 125, Bolton 146, Oldham 146, Manchester 280.

Keep up that muscle building regime :)

GM Weekly Pop Data after today:~

Borough / Pop Today / 7 days ago / up or down wk to wk/ Testing is % of local population who have tested positive for Covid over past year.

As ever with Pop going up is bad, going down good - the higher the number the better or worse depending on direction moving. The Pop is total cases in past week versus 100,000 POPulation to even out the comparison versus size and expected cases based on numbers living there.

Oldham 62 / 46 UP 16 Testing positive 9.7%

Manchester 51 / 34/ UP 17 Testing positive 9.6%

Bolton 50 / 38 / UP 12 Testing positive 9.0%

Rochdale 44 / 43 / UP 1 Testing positive 9.5%

Wigan 38 / 27 / UP 11 Testing positive 8.8%

Tameside 36 / 23 UP 13 Testing positive 8.0%

Salford 33 / 26 / UP 7 Testing positive 8.9%

Trafford 29 / 19 / UP 10 Testing positive 6.9%

Bury 27 / 17 / UP 10 Testing positive 9.0%

Stockport 26 / 25 / UP 1 Testing positive 7.1%

Stockport cling on to top spot but not having a falling Pop Score.

But nobody really struggling week to week. And with numbers now low big falls week to week are not so easy.

If they find someone with the low platelets is there any treatment? I read a blood test can diagnose it, but then what?

And if they spot the blood clots, is anyone doing anything to fix? and in worse cases when they find one in the brain, is there anything anyone can do or are you put in a room expecting the worst?

They're very quick to point out how rare it is, but no one seems to say what can be done if you find you have it?

Thoroughly excited, lol, to say that I’ve only just visited this thread for the first time since Friday morning. I think thats the longest I’ve not caught up on it since the pandemic started, and also good to see it’s not jumped many pages.

Fuck off covid.
