Thank you. Yeah - that's certainly worth watching. If that's the sort of reduction by week 6, you can't imagine another 6 weeks will do much good. Potentially massive detriment to those who've received 1st dose of Pfizer and the JCVI decision to run with the delayed dose. I'll heed the advice of you and MB for now and not become too concerned, but processing this sort of info and not being concerned is probably what separates those with some sort of scientific knowledge and the layman like myself!

It’s another reason why I wouldn’t have released it yet tbh. Our pharmacists are having to field questions every day about things like this and I get it because of the huge interest in it. All this is creating a bit too much information for people at times though. We never get people asking which variant of the flu vaccine they’re having and the efficacy rates for example!

My mum and dad both got the Pfizer vaccine, other members of my family have had the AZ one. Personally, I’d be more than happy to take either.

In general, I would caution over-reacting to one piece of data.

Even if they turn out to be confirmed once we have more data at those midpoints, the JCVI decision was still arguably right and will save many lives as an awful lot of people right now are protected to a large degree who would otherwise not be protected at all.

And there's the opposite data on the AZ vaccine that the second dose is more effective if given later; that could yet apply to Pfizer too.

Plus second doses will be starting in earnest in a couple of weeks time (3 months from first vaccination is 8th March).

Far too early to form conclusions IMO, and the worst case scenario isn't too bad compared to where the rest of the world are at.

Absolutely, concur with all of that. Thanks for posting and same to @meltonblue for clarifying on this subject. Be interested to see how it develops.

I wonder why? Low on vaccine?
Yes, as Nicola Sturgeon told us we would be two weeks ago and I got called her supporter for pointing it out in here.

When I was posting this as it was important to us all. And only she was telling us why.

I explained why when posting the Scottish numbers earlier this afternoon as it was discussed then.

It is Pfizer supply related due to refit of Belgian factory.

AZ not affected but we have a big drop until Pfizer is back up and running.

The cases and positivity rating today though is very good.
.
Of course the BBC just reported it as cases have gone up.

Maybe nobody mentions the positivity numbers in England as they know journalists are too lazy to find out why it matters or even care.

I agree the positivity piece is good, but nevertheless, it's the first week on week increase in positives since the peak. I find that rather concerning. I'm probably clutching at straws, but maybe it's increasing false positives from the rollout of lateral flow tests? Mainly I hope it's a blip, or at worst a sign of a reduction in rate rather than a turnaround.

It doesn't augur well for the impact of schools reopening, for sure.

The refusal to open up outdoor sport immediately is extremely disappointing. Every day I walk past groups of guys fishing in a local pond but golf courses are closed. Its nonsensical in my view to ban a bunch of vaccinated retirees like me from playing golf in 2's and force me instead to walk with the Mrs through the massed ranks in 3's and 4's ambling on the narrow paths around Sale Water Park.
The over elaborate plans are a joke -first warm weekend it'll be a mass breakout.
Who the hell do this Government think they are telling us when we can sit on a park bench and who with. Massive over reach of power . Its like North Korea lite.
