But we’re being told that vaccination passports may be required to use pubs, cinemas, restaurants etc.... who the fuck is going to police that for starters, and again it’s hardly fair on the younger generations who in many ways have suffered the most during all of this.
Told by who. The government seem very reluctant. The only ones that might implement it are the individual venues and businesses,so they'd police their own policies.

Not really, And that argument in the first paragraph works both ways - the elderly have paid a far bigger price in terms of lives lost than those in their 20s. What would you sooner have? A financial price to pay (and plenty of us older ones will be hit in the pocket too on that), or losing your life?
But most of those in their 20’s wouldn’t lose their lives, that’s the point, they gave up their lives for 12 months to protect the vulnerable yet are now being asked to continue putting their lives on hold because they’ve not actually been offered a vaccine yet, again it’s hardly fair on them is it.

England hospital deaths:

Wk to wk

973 / 138 NW / 13%

707 / 104 NW / 14%

664 / 89 NW / 15%

522 / 104 NW / 20%

302 / 36 NW / 12%

Not just a huge fall but NW deaths way down.

Really good day everywhere so far.

The eighty year olds grew up with rationing, ffs.
They’ve still lived their lives. The younger generation today are going to be paying for all of this for a bloody long time, they’ve already lost a year or more of their lives yet now are being told to wait while the elderly, those who the younger ones protected by not going out, can start living their lives again. I’m just saying I don’t think it’s very fair.

England hospital deaths by age range:

20 - 39 (2) 0.7%

40 - 59 (22) 7.3%

60 - 79 (132) 43.7%

80 PLUS (146) 48.3%

Whem the lockdown ends there's going to be a risky period with a lot more social contact and inevitably higher infection rate before a lot of people get vaccinated. That period worries me. I would have been more comfortable with restrictions loosening after vaccination and not before, however the world does not revolve around me.

I'm talking about all the older ones who have lost their lives. A financial hit for a few years - the burden of which we're all going to share - doesn't really compare to popping your clogs. Crikey mate, you're looking at a difference of a couple of months or so between those who can technically go abroad in May and those who can't. Why the rush to get on the first flight out of the country on May 17th when the chances are a lot of destinations will still have restrictions in place? I've just had a flight to Malta in April cancelled on me by EasyJet (already pushed back from last June) to go with the 3 holidays I had cancelled last year but I'm not in any great rush to re-book it for the following month. Instead, I'll push it back again - this time to next May or June. With that in mind, I've booked 4 days in a caravan in Yorkshire at the end of June with Haven. Me, the other half, and my pet springer. £165 all in. Bargain.

If a venue insists on a covid passport for entry, despite the government not mandating it then all they will be doing is restricing the number of younger clientele that would go in and spend their money. Hardly the most financially savvy thing to do when your business is on its arse. People have short memories and once things get back to normal all of these arguments will hopefully disappear.

As for comparisons between Covid and the war..it really isn't the same because during the war I'm sure old, young and everyone in between was shit scared of a bomb falling on their head. The sense of personal risk would have been completely different to the current situation where the vast majority of people don't feel and aren't at any risk bar a few rough days in bed. You simply cannot apply an expectation of wartime behaviour when the social and psychological dynamics are completely different.
