I have an appointment next week, then one in March.
The third will be in June but no date yet.

Last year he closed for three months.

My dentist has only been doing emergencies since the first lockdown. The hygienist at the surgery is doing routine appointments though.

Went to the dentists before Christmas. Normally lie there paralysed in fear that she’ll find something wrong and say work is required. Just lay there terrified that her face mask looked a little loose.

The concern I've heard is that, while there's very good protection after the first dose, there's no evidence (says Pfizer, the manufacturer) that protection lasts beyond 21 days without the booster.

I'm inclined to be comforted by the assurances of Prof Whitty, Van Tam etc, but I can fully understand why many articulate and informed folk are concerned they're not getting the vaccine in the way that Pfizer intended, and that they signed up to.

There’s that and they also can’t fully agree with our interpretation of the protection after the first dose, which is why they’re keeping to 52% whereas we are saying 89%. We can say that between the second and third week after the first injection, that looks like the efficacy. We really don’t know after that point though, so we’re essentially going into trialling ourselves. We’ve either got to hope they’re right or revert, I have a feeling they might do the latter now.

Just stick to the correct, original dose and don't leave it open to risk.

Exactly what I’d do and now we’ve got the additional restrictions back in, I think they might.

One key thing still missing to me though, we have to have mandatory testing and/or quarantining at all border entries too.

Its mind bogglingly idiotic we haven’t done that already months ago.

That’s one question mate that should be a political one, it’s a fucking national disgrace that billions have been wasted on something as useless as that.

I’m sure there will be some very wealthy people when all this is over!

People seem to have taken from Johnson's statement that the lockdown will be for 6 weeks.

This is not what he said, and almost certainly not true.

What he said was that if 2 million per week can be vaccinated, then the four most vulnerable groups will have had the jab in 6 weeks.

1. 2 million per week is an absolute best case scenario. Unlikely, not impossible.

2. It takes 2-3 weeks for immunity. So that takes you to 8 weeks absolute minimum.

3. Hospitals will still be full of the already sick and dying. That will take a few weeks to clear.

So 8 weeks is the absolute best possible case. 12 weeks is probably realistic; 6 weeks is not possible. I'd love to believe 6 weeks, but it's hard to imagine I'm afraid.

Johnson has said Spring in previous statements and furlough is in place until the end of April so for me that is more realistic. He can’t say that though as it’s too long for people to mentally cope with. I really can’t see 2m vaccines a week being administered.
