The ONS data had an interesting feature in its report on the fall of deaths. Apparently the number who died WITH Covid but determined to have died FROM Covid fell from 90.2% at the peak of this wave (when we had nearly 40,000 in UK hospitals in January) to just 80% in the latest data out today (to 5 March).

There have been several phone ins on TV this morning on various channels and there were what seemed like reasonable people with risk of blood clots raised for various reasons asking for advice from doctors there to reassure that it was safe. ITV This Morning had one - in between milking a horse and drinking it!

I do get this as I had a chat with my GP a year or two back about whether I should continue with HRT because of the blood clot factor and judging balance of risk as I got older. Plenty of women have this conversation so may be more sensitive to this news.

Wonderful little insight just now on BBC 2.

During the vaccine ordering process when the £15 billion plans were discussed in Whitehall for commercial reasons the various vaccines had to be referred to in code!

They gave them names of submarines.

Pfizer was called Ambition.

AZ was called Triumph!

And - they conveniently miss - the three days SINCE those numbers posted were all much lower by 25% or so.

I know most people never read the data I post every evening in here for Greater Manchester that tracks it day to day.

That is your choice, of course. And it is hard to read in a big table so I am not saying you all should do. Noir attacking the press as they are by necessity days behind.

But if you want to know what is happening now that is where it is each evening in here. Not in the MEN or local press which is often what was happening a few days ago.

Both matter, obviously. In different ways. But City were not top of the league for most of this season and then they were. The title is awarded on the data as it stands now - not a few games ago.
Good analogy !

If Europe doesn’t want the Az jab send it our way, better still send it to the third world countries who are getting vaccine deliveries in the hundred thousands whilst the western world gets them delivered in quantities of millions.
Won’t happen. They’re not the only ones sat on vaccines. The US is sat on an estimated 10 million AZ doses but still haven’t approved it. They also rejected countries who asked for it.

I agree

You think the planet would take a joined up approach to vaccinating people. The longer this virus sits out there ripping through populations the more chance of a variant happening that could put us back to square one.

EMA to make a decision by Thursday.

Unbelievable.

They said yesterday there would be an update today and conclusion Thursday.

I mean, any organisation sticking to what they've promised is unusual, but not entirely unbelievable.
