Last week was 36, 572 - rise of 1709 wk to wk

England only 29, 417 today v 29, 762 last week - DOWN 345

Still flat as a pancake in England

119K MORE Pillar 1 & 2 tests today than last week - 912, 031 today,

Positivity rate will be down

ENGLAND HOSPITAL DATA

ADMISSIONS - THESE ARE FROM TUESDAY REMEMBER

818 V 832 last week) & 831 on Monday

By regions (just Tuesday v a week on Tuesday) :-

LONDON 165 V 111 - big rise her

MIDLANDS 157 V 166 - still high but small fall

NE & YORKSHIRE 149 V 166 - as above is falling - good sign

AND

NORTH WEST 122 V 125 - small fall here but not going down very fast

So on Tuesday again the NW easily admitted the least of the four big regions whilst London had MORE admissions week to week as the NW actually fell week to week.

Admission numbers in total pretty flat around 800.

On day 3 of symptoms and feel like shite. Hardly slept a wink last night and just hurting from head to toe. Not got out of bed all day and just constantly covered in sweat. Double jabbed and all I can say is thank fuck I am.
Keep going. I am through the worst now. I started feeling better by about day 6 and am now day 10 and nowhere near as tired. Sadly still testing positive so will probably miss the Arsenal match. A good CL draw tonight and three points on Saturday should help.

AND

NORTH WEST 117 - UP 15 V 104 - UP 13

THIS IS A ONE OFF JUMP AND THINGS MIGHT CHANGE BUT GIVEN RECENT FALLS AND THE MUCH BETTER NUMBERS IN OTHER REGIONS THIS IS QUITE A SURPRISE TO SEE SUCH AN INCREASE TODAY IN THE NORTH WEST

NOT IMPOSSIBLE IT IS A GLITCH IN DATA. HAS HAPPENED BEFORE WHEN SUDDEN BIG JUMPS OCCUR IN A REGION. IF SO IT WILL BE CORRECTED TOMORROW ON PAST TIMES IT OCCURRED>

The other regions East up from 70 to 71 today

South East up from 75 to 83

GM & NW Highlights

Not a great day but well in keeping with GM split of North West percentages so not a bad one.

North West on 3898 - highest in a while - up 561 on yesterday - biggest rise in some days.

That is a weekly rise from last Thursday's 3577 - up 321 wk to wk.

GREATER MANCHESTER

As you would expect from the above most boroughs up.

BUT the split of the NW is OK.

Day to day GM UP by 241 to 1518 - highest in a few weeks btw. As NW rose by 561 that is around par or just under.

Week to week GM UP 97 from 1421 last Thursday. As NW rose by 321 week to week that 97 GM rise is well UNDER the expectation part of the NW numbers.

So - it might not look like it from the numbers - but GM had an OK Day today.

MANCHESTER top on 292 - up 44 on day but DOWN 4 week to week

STOCKPORT on 170 - up 31 on day and UP 22 week to week

SALFORD on 156 - up 28 on day and DOWN 16 week to week

TAMESIDE 153 - DOWN 1 on day but UP 32 week to week

TRAFFORD 148 - UP 55 on day and UP 22 week to week

WIGAN 145 - UP 44 on day and UP 6 week to week

OLDHAM 138 - UP 14 on day and UP 36 week to week

BOLTON 120 - UP 11 on day and UP 1 week to week

ROCHDALE 100 - DOWN 6 on the day and DOWN 2 week to week - BEST NUMBERS IN GM TODAY

BURY 96 - UP 21 on the day and UP 11 week to week

Rochdale aside - easily best performance today - nobody had a terrible day, most were up and nobody did particularly well today.

It was a fairly even split.

Despite its 170 cases in Stockport - Trafford's 148 was worse in terms of population expectations - and so Trafford was up by a POP of 62 (to 11 521) and Stockport up by 58 (to 11, 414)

So Stockport's lead as lowest GM Pop Score is 107 and has been around that number for a week or two now.

Tameside had the worst overall numbers today - POP Score up 68 to 12, 611

Best in GM again was Bolton - POP score up 42 ALSO taking it into the 14K Club today on 14, 040

AND TO CAP THAT Manchester Pop Up 53 and Oldham Pop up 58

THIS PUTS THEM BOTH LEVEL ON 14, 755 as highest Pop Scores in Manchester.

I got ‘pinged’ today. Ive worked from home all week and only been in contact with immediate family who live with me. Last place I went was City on Saturday! Good job I’m double vaccinated, as id be pissed off at having to self isolate.

You can continue testing positive for weeks after though. You can go out after day 10 from either first positive test or from first symptoms as long as you no longer have symptoms. Wife and both kids had it last week

Thanks I have been confused over this. The advice seems to differ from website to website. I thought the ten day isolation was just an initial period and until you tested negative you remained potentially infectious. That said I am still suffering some symptoms so I will exercise caution for Saturday.

Makes sense to be cautious, here’s the official guidance from NHS. There’s no ‘test’ that tells you you‘re no longer contagious

How long you need to self-isolate

If you test positive, your self-isolation period includes the day your symptoms started (or the day you had the test, if you do not have symptoms) and the next 10 full days.

If you get symptoms while you're self-isolating, the 10 days restarts from the day after your symptoms started.

When to stop self-isolating

You can stop self-isolating after the 10 days if either:

  • you do not have any symptoms
  • you just have a cough or changes to your sense of smell or taste – these can last for weeks after the infection has gone

When to keep self-isolating

Keep self-isolating if you have any of these symptoms after the 10 days:

  • a high temperature or feeling hot and shivery
  • a runny nose or sneezing
  • feeling or being sick
  • diarrhoea
Only stop self-isolating when these symptoms have gone.

If you have diarrhoea or you're being sick, stay at home until 48 hours after they've stopped.

You mean other than comparing the country that borders it which did exactly that? Come on if England’s cases were doubling like Scotland’s everyone would be slating the decision makers it works both ways.

As Tim Spector points out, the age group's causing Scotland's increases are those of school age and schools returned 2 weeks ago in Scotland.

My mistake there are three labs handling coronavirus in Wuhan.
- The Wuhan Institute of Virology
- The Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
- The Hubei provincial CDC.

Now Thats Interesting. the The Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention is a level 2 bio safety and according to wiki is less that 300 meters from the wet market that was considered ground zero ( later info makes it debatable it was mind you ).

I think the 3rd one maybe the same physical lab as 2nd from googling.

While I've always maintained a level 4 lab is unlikely to have leaked anything as the very nature of a level 4 lab is set up to prevent leaks. a Level 2 is far less strict and does open the debate up more.

Exactly and these age groups have been driving transmission since we got the vaccines so the worry is the big England rise is yet to come.

WE might have had it in dribs and drabs earlier in the Summer. That is the hope but it would be naive to expect no impact from the huge England school return after 6/8 weeks away during which numbers flattened right off. Again not by coincidence I am sure.

Especially as we seem to have taken all Summer to think about vaccinations for over 12s and seem close to doing it just as they all go back so no time to take much effect.

I get the feeling a few minds have been on vacation this Summer rather than make swift decisions.

3677 - about 28% - of cases in Northern Ireland over the past week were under 19.

3840 - even more - of these cases are in the 20 - 39 (most in the first half of that range too). TWO THIRDS of cases from the people least or not at all vaccinated.

No coincidence.

The numbers over 60 is 1449 - way fewer - and just 260 of them are in the most vulnerable over 80s.

It looks about as sure as it can be that the return to schools in England will drive these numbers up as kids will be kids and not think Covid after weeks not seeing their friends.

That in of itself will not have much healthcare impact but passing it onto granny who is 6 months beyond here immunity levels at vaccine dose 2 might well be as Winter closes in.

Quite. Only 300 meters away!

The origin of this coronavirus is supposedly from the bats of the caves of Yunnan, a place that is over 1,000 miles away from Wuhan.

Is it really a coincidence that the Wuhan labs specifically studied coronaviruses originating in those bats? Or did it just so happen to come from a wet market where actually after the ground zero cases they didn't find a single trace of coronavirus?

The artificially created theory has been discredited but I don't think anyone can discount a leak.
