Spot on.
It’s ridiculous that we are exiting slower this time.

why is “non-essential” retail still shut?

I say “non-essential” because for some reason clothes that are needed to work are non-essential but alcohol and Easter eggs are essential.
Disagree. We need to reduce the chance of mutation while vaccinating. If cases fall dates will be advanced.

UK cases for the three nations without England today are 855.

Wk to wk: 1611 v 1425 v 907 v 922 v 995 v 855 Today

AS you can see it fell and then flatlined for last 3 weeks

.....but there is no indication of schools driving numbers up - perhaps just keeping them from going down more and todays is the lowest of the lot.

A report by PHE showed that travel corridors last summer brought concerning levels of infections back to the UK.

I am quite happy to holiday in the UK, there are some beautiful places to visit in the UK from Cornwall to Scotland with some outstanding scenery. We are in a pandemic, and we need to tailor our expectations accordingly. We look at Australia and New Zealand with envy. Their people are able to live their lives with much less restrictions than us (I know that Australia have had lockdowns), but I don’t really understand the desire to get on a plane and travel to another country in a pandemic. If we could live an relatively unrestricted life within the UK, being able to go out, see friends and relatives for a period of time until the situation becomes better in the rest of the world, it has to be better than the current situation surely?

I like the idea of that. Get to a good state with this long lockdown and speedy vaccination program.

Then 'lock in' the good results, reduce the risk of people coming back and stopping the numbers going up again so quickly.

Almost every memory I have of Blackpool, indeed most holidays in the UK, the weather was bloody awful. After the first lockdown eased we went for a drive there as a family for a day out and although it was nice to spend some time together the place was even more depressing than I remembered. Loads of undesirable types knocking around too that looked like they'd slit your throat for the loose change in your pocket.

When everywhere is open though some of the hotel's have some cracking entertainment on, the Lynden had three artists on at a weekend.

In general my view of holidays in the UK is overpriced verging on a blatant rip off, poor service and completely unreliable weather. After the misery of this lockdown though it will probably seem like paradise.
It's an ill wind ..........
Our bad weather was the making of the Costa Brava, Blackpool with sunshine.

71 England hospital deaths by region:

24 Midlands, 12 London, 10 South East, 9 NE & Yorkshire, 8 North West, 5 East, 3 South West.

Derby 8 and Dudley 5 the biggest local deaths in trusts.

Blackpool at 2 the most in the NW.

Age ranges: 40 - 59 (10) 14.1% 60 - 79 (24) 33.8% 80 PLUS (37) 52.1%

Most people are incredibly unadventurous when it comes to holidays and exploring their own country. Same resort, same place, whether Portugal or Blackpool or Ilfracombe or Blakeney, every year.

And that's fine, but they're missing out on untold wonders around the coast and inland. Ramsgate, Ruthin and Rothesay to pick 3 at random.

And you CAN get family rooms around the country for £40 a night in this country if you're not quite so fussy about location.
