Face coverings and social distancing here for a few years yet. Subtle Govt control?
I think some people will elect to wear face masks in busy areas. I think I would on a tram/train if it was packed. Maybe not shopping but possibly in the concourse at City for example.

Why though, I just don’t get it what IS the hardship of having to keep your distance and wear a mask in certain places ,supermarkets say or doctors waiting rooms? It’s not any real hardship is it. Certainly not one that would have me grabbing a pitchfork and flaming torch.

There is no social distancing though is there in reality? I don't know where you shop but once inside the supermarket it is a free for all, the only difference is the majority are wearing masks.

Social distancing going on indefinitely means no real concerts, nightlife, football games, flights, pubs. The virus is out of the box and as such is here forever. Experts have said even if it mutates to other strains once vaccinated for the majority of people they should be fine. Then some other expert pops up to say we won't. Like masks, our experts said they made very little difference and then it was of vital importance we wear them. We are living in the world of the old 1960's programme the Prisoner. Free but not really free. Existing but not really living a full life. They have the bogyman, the virus and as such they can keep us cowering under the covers indefinitely. It might be a life you're happy with bit a lot aren't.

Went to see my 91 year old nanna yesterday in her care home in wythenshawe
All the residents and staff had there 2nd jabs this week.
So during the visit (we stand at a window that is cracked 2”, nanna is half deaf so a conversation is sketchy to say the least) i asked the member of staff , who hangs about all through the visit, when we will be allowed to come in, or sit in the garden with her, and was told “no time soon”.

am i being thick? Surely once vaccinated they are pretty well protected and visits van resume ? Otherwise , these window visits could Continue forever!
My Dad (89) is in hospital with kidney and heart issues unlikely to come out alive not allowed in to see him at all.

sorry to hear that blue. Its crap.

yesterday my nanna tried to pat my 5 year olds hand when he put it on the window cill only for the carer to pat it away.
I get that the 2nd vaccine hasnt quite kicked in but a lot of what is going on is barbaric.
Much worse for you pal.
My mum passed away at home a month ago and luckily we all got to say goodbye

When it first come out there were one way systems in supermarkets now you can’t even find staff to ask where a product is, people barging past you to grab an item talking with masks pulled down. I put my air pods in music up full and get in and out as fast as I can I also try to get to the shops as soon as they open to avoid the majority of tossers who don’t give a fuck about anything or anybody but themselves

The biggest mistake Oxford / AZ have made is pricing their vaccine to cheaply. This has turned out to be a massive marketing own goal.

Pfizer and the “invisible” Moderna get FA criticism and has anybody seen J&J?

We've had a bit of Moderna over here and we're due to start getting supplies of the J & J one on 16th April. Mainly been Pfizer followed by AZ though.

Why would there be criticism? Moderna was never due before spring - I think this is probably in part because Trump block-bought the first 100m.

J&J is still under a month since requesting approval here.

Exactly it's a nonsense. I could be fighting every visit if I didn't turn a blind eye. Last week I was waiting patiently to enter Aldi while a guy in front sanitised his hands and trolley handle. I heard this kind of " Hummmmff!" Noise and some wanker barges past and grabs a hand basket and goes in the store. I must have stated hard at this prick about three times during my shop, counting to ten to not go over and confront him. It gets harder by the week.
