Local ice cream shop has just announced on social media how delighted they are to still be open and all the measures they have in place bla bla bla.

Frustrating as fuck yet there's nothing I or anyone can do unless the government step in and specifically tell them they have to shut.

Just one example of many businesses finding loopholes to keep their doors open. Food = essential. Ice cream, fuck off. Take some personal responsibility and we might get out of this mess.
For a start, who the fuck wants an ice cream in this weather?

I've closed my coffee shop, our thinking we don't want t encourage non essential shopping, though takeaway is a loop hole we've been told not to look for. Hopefully todays announcement of grants will persuade those staying open to close. I mean how many ice creams can they be selling, in January in Ayrshire.

Back to daily press conferences maybe, think Whitty & Vallance are there too.
Good; we need these frequent visual reminders, with yellow and green/black hazard tape signage etc. These images being filtered through newspapers/news feeds each day were so important in reinforcing the initial message last year.

Arguably compliance started to wane when the press conferences stopped last summer.

England hospital deaths 3 wks v 2 wks v last wk v TODAY: Total / NW total / NW % of total

293 / 55 NW / 19%

405 / 64 NW / 16%

365 / 40 NW / 11%

582 / 109 NW / 19% TODAY

Be warned that bad as this looks for the NW - Wednesday is usually even higher than Tuesday in catch up on normal weeks. Though this is not a normal week.

I'd like to see Zahawi ( Vaccines Minister) or his boss Hancock at the press conference tonight to explain the vacine roll out programme - what is the plan, what are the difficulties and uncertainties, what are the timescales( aspirational, realistic, worse case).
I think the public would appreciate a degree of honesty and clarity on this.
The Govt have had enough time to work on it so they should share the details of the plan with the public.
If not tonight then a commitment from BoJo to give details to the House or in a future presser to be held soon.

One of my locals is contemplating opening a takeaway coffee stall in the car park as it’ll likely keep them afloat he says.

That’s part of the mandatory training for most folk working in the NHS. What’s your problem with 1/2 a days paid training to allow someone to administer a potentially fatal vaccine?
Do you (or anyone else reading this) know how to claim the money for the paid training? My dads finished his application over Christmas (Took a lot more than half a day though!) and I'm not sure he knows its paid.

Ffs, bureaucracy alive and well in the NHS
Not at all, this is putting a new vaccine into real life people , there is health and safety and procedures in case someone goes into shock or cardiac arrest or stops breathing

The nhs has to have these things to safe guard people , also one vaccine needs drawing up and mixing , it is not preloaded like the flu one is , you have to be qualified to do it

People moaning dont seem to grasp what injecting people is all about , they would be the first to complain if they have a bad reaction

Any where there are crowds requires people who know how to safely evacuate people , most of whom will be old and some immobile

This is not giving people smarties ffs

The arguement is how to make it easier to apply , if you are in the nhs system they can check likewise the st johns ambulan ce , if you arecqualified you can ring where you got that and get the details , people give up too soon

I have volunteered to be a steward at vaccination sites , it is less hassle to apply than it is to get PIP's disability benefit , that is fourty pages long
