That’s when enforcement comes in, police walk in shut it down massive fine, can’t open for two weeks, they’d soon get the message, no ifs or buts.
Yes, that's exactly what happened, a few places in Stone and Aberdeen closed. BUT I never saw the carnage and rule-bending in pubs that the media hoped to report, and I managed to visit over 250 different pubs between July and November (pub ticker).

Nearly all the pubs I went in, bar a few of those micropubs that operate as extensions of the family home, were exemplary. Sterile, in fact.

GM Weekly Pop Scores after today:~

Borough / Score Today / Score 7 days ago / up or down wk to wk/ Testing is % of local population who have tested positive for Covid over past year.

As ever with Pop scores going up is bad, going down good - the higher the number the better or worse depending on direction moving. The Pop Score is total cases in past week versus 100,000 POPulation to even out the comparison versus size and expected cases based on numbers living there.

Oldham 81 / 114 Down 33 Testing positive 9.6%

Manchester 79 / 99 / Down 20 Testing positive 9.5%

Tameside 78 / 117 / Down 39 Testing positive 8.0%

Bolton 78/ 110 / Down 32 Testing positive 8.9%

Rochdale 77 / 104 / Down 27 Testing positive 9.5%

Wigan 62 / 95 / Down 33 Testing positive 8.8%

Salford 60 / 78 / Down 18 Testing positive 8.9%

Trafford 59 / 61/ Down 2 Testing positive 6.9%

Stockport 58 / 70 / Down 12 Testing positive 7.1%

Bury 53 / 76 / Down 23 Testing positive 9.0%

As you see everywhere now falling and 81 is the lowest top Pop score in GM since mid Summer 2020

Bury is cutting loose with lowest weekly Pop. But the gap between all boroughs has narrowed to just 28 because everywhere is doing so well.

Trafford completes its recent turnaround and laughs at the MEN scare story being days behind with their 'news' of the 'disaster' in the borough. Using week old data to be led astray as usual.

The three lowest scorers in the early days of the pandemic have re-established the old normality as numbers have tumbled. Which shows how far we have come.

Weekly cases:- Bury increased its lead to just miss going below 100 at 101. Whilst - at 141 Trafford stays second. Stockport some way back now on 170. Rochdale is on exactly the same number. But Salford's amazing turnaround this week pushed them ahead of both into third at 167. Tameside not far behind on 178. Even Oldham gatecrash the party on 192. Wigan just misses out on joining the sub 200 weekly cases club on 204.

Outside for now is Bolton on 226 and Manchester who are unlikely to manage sub 200 any time soon given its population but also falling fast at 434. Which when you remember it was over 3000 in the early autumn is not bad!

Announced that Boris to give press conference at 5 pm tomorrow to reveal the testing plan for spectators at events.

Believed to include small crowd at the FA Cup Semi Finals and League Cup Final as a trial.

But limited to a few thousand and to locals.

If that story being rumoured today is true it is very unfortunate that City play London teams in both those games.

Though I suspect some will see it as more than misfortune.

Certainly would not be in the spirit of fairness if true.

Oh and Liverpool are rewarded by spectators being trialled at a comedy event. Presumably to watch a home game at Anfield then.

It’s been announced formally today. Only one FA cup semi final (not ours) and that’s 4,000 people, locals and NHS. League cup final is 8,000 includes tickets for both clubs. Announced on mancity.com today

1,200,000 tests today as well.
Not as big as it has been but blimey, back in October that would have been immense.

Remember what happened the last time the Government did Liverpool "a favour" by letting their pubs stay open in December despite all common sense suggesting it would be a disaster.

Conventional media are way out of their depth reporting on this pandemic. I'm an advocate for a total media reporting ban as they just can't be impartial and balanced. Of course that would have to be replaced with something, but I'm not entirely sure what.

Their business model doesn't allow for the level of impartiality and balanced presentation of the facts required so that people can form their own opinion.

The language they use and the tone of the articles when an issue arises, such as the ones this week about the cock up at the J&J manufacturing site affecting 15m doses is abhorrent.

That is fair enough, thanks.
