Hardly millions have had it with no problems, and will have the second one.
Precisely, its a shame that a life saving drug is getting all this negative attention. Millions of women take the contraceptive pill across europe and thier chances of getting a clot is between 1 in 10,000 and 1 in 33, 000 and between 3 and 5% of people who fly develop blood clots. But this gets hardly any attention. Flying or taking a contraceptive pill are not essential and dont save your life but taking the AZ vaccine could easily save your life. Still a no brainer for me when you look at the stats.

Me included but I d o think this will seriously damage what could have been a global life saver. It has been handled pretty badly too as a PR exercise.

Most people who understand the facts will have it. But if you do not think plenty will choose not to have it then I fear you misread the harm this will do to confidence.

As you say the EU raising concerns about the safety, ourselves kind of poo hooing it, now backtracking a bit kills people's confidence, rightly or wrongly. A lot will think, ," They knew about this but brushed it under the carpet, they see a few dying as a price worth paying."

As far as I'm aware no one has died from the other vaccines so a lot will think " Bugger that, I'm not being the one that has to take the risk, I've waited this long I'll wait for a safer one!"

I understand that but I know from my annual chats with my GP that taking HRT increases risk of blood clots as we regularly consider dosage changes. So I have that to take into account too.

I am pretty sure we will be able to have mixture of vaccines before the autumn as a third jab is being touted and there may not be multiple updated ones. Hence they are researching mixing now. Some doctors even think that will be beneficial.

Not saying I will just refuse. But I will ask my doctor first before I get called in 3 weeks or so.

My wife is on HRT and has had her first AZ Jab with no issues, but we are now discussing it, your comment on mixing is interesting.

I understand that how you take HRT (oral v transdermal) may make a difference on risk factors with oral being a higher risk, but must stress I'm no means an expert on any of this.

I can assure you it does get attention amongst women of which I suspect there are few on here. But the risks are well known and discussed.

That is true, patches are safer but also more expensive and also if you have been on one of the pills for some time doctors are reluctant to change regimes if your levels test stable.

Hence why I will talk to her as this puts another factor into the equation of whether to switch to patches.

I do think this will sink the AZ vaccine sadly yes.

Indeed I may consider waiting myself now until they decide (as they will) they will not give two doses of AZ doubling the risk - rare as it is. Must be safer to have another version of the vaccine second on balance of risk.

My mum had her 2nd this week and although it’s only one person, she was ill after the first but felt nothing unusual after the 2nd.

The issue here being that a healthy under 30 year old is at risk or rare blood clots. We haven’t got anywhere near vaccinating under 30’s year so what’s to say the chances of this in under 30’s far exceeds that. If the risk of the vaccine outweighs the risk of the virus what would you do?

Yes, I'm 46 and have only have used the pill for 3 months in my early 20s then had to stop due to my leg swelling and family history of dvt. Never used it again.

Had to inject myself daily with an anti clotting thing for my entire pregnancy age 41 due to high risk. Am currently waiting for a scan on a lump on back of leg that consultant worried was possible clot ( but 3 was on still no appt so yes I guess they can't have been that worried..).

I am pretty scared of having the Oxford despite being so desperate for the vaccine. I was hoping we'd be on moderna in a week or two but now that's not likely as they will save it all for under 30s.

I got called a few days ago to have it! But had a bad cough so they said to wait til better. I just don't know what to do. My leg still hurts, my breathing has gone poor the last week and a resting heart rate is 110 instead of 80 to 90. So already worried that lump was a clot that's on it's way to my lungs! Had a covid test 2 days back so I know it's not that.

Nervous. Don't know what to do.
