Having read the SAGE comments on 1000 deaths a day and 10,000 hospitalisations I have to say they are living in a fantasy panic world.
SAGE needs to be renamed Supremely Adept Generating Emergencies.
The current hospitalisations and deaths in SA indicate those numbers are likely to be total bollox (as usual).
My mistake it said 700 deatgs a day.
Still can't see it with the SA figures.

I'm a bit suspicious (like many) of the motivations for these new guidelines, but tbh they're neither too restrictive and ultimately I think they still are far better than nothing.

COVID passports for large gatherings, wearing your mask, working from home if possible. Doesn't seem too bad.

Yeh Give it another 2 weeks there is more to come!.

Because the vaccine reduces the chances of being hospitalised by 90%. If EVERYONE was fully vaccinated then we wouldn’t be seeing 7,000 In Hospital clogging up the NHS, we’d be seeing closer to 700.

The government really don’t give a fuck if you’re diagnosed positive with covid and feel like shit for a week, they’d never consider a lockdown to prevent that. They lockdown because they don’t want hospitals to be overcrowded during their busiest period of the year.

How do people still not get this when we are two years into a pandemic?

Anti-vaxxers are wholly to blame for any new restrictions brought in. Hopefully they’ll be the ones that suffer the most from them (in terms of being unable to attend games/nights out etc etc).

It’s a shame that the NHS has a finite number of beds and that we do have to worry about the staff being overstretched as if everything else was equal, I’d just let the anti-vaxxers deal with the consequences of their own stupidity or refuse them NHS funded treatment for covid. Fuck em would be my advice.

I've said this before but they need to start charging the antivaxxers for their hospitalisation unless they have a medical reason that is.

EdIT: My mistake 700 deaths a day.

I presume they've outputted their usual shit work. Ie deaths could be between 10 and 10,000 a day and hospitalisations could be between 100 and 1,000,000 a day. Absolute useless

But how many more years are we expected to live like this?

Negative result thank god but there must a bug going round because I still feel shitty
Absolutely shit loads. I know a huge amount of people who have been going through it including 2 of my kids.
Very similar to the "Covid" so many people thought they'd had in December 2019.

Interesting work by @pieterstreicher on Twitter, who has been examining the data in Tshwane and Gauteng in particular. Those better versed on such things might be able to say if he is correct, but I pray he is.
