As far as I know he is teaching from home. Certainly was the other day anyway.

I'm all for teachers getting vaccines (so my kids can go back to school) just surprised he had had it so soon. I have another friend working in hospital who only got their first jab yesterday. Has your mother in law heard anything about her vaccine?
Nope, nothing yet.

I’m only jesting mate, light hearted humour. It is very annoying. Even when we were out with the dog in the park earlier it was exactly the same. Not every group by all means, but I’d say a good 75% of groups have no etiquette whatsoever. We always, to extreme levels as well, get the full family into single file, including heading off edges of paths and sometimes you don’t even get a thanks or acknowledgement.
Should be at home getting pissed, fuck the dogs and fuck your walking, if your dog dies of not walking it’s better than someone’s granny, your liver will recover from the excess alcohol. I’d tazer walkers, runners, cyclists

And still my 89 year old friend in heart failure has not heard a thing.

When she spoke to her doctor they told her to stop worrying she will get it when it is her turn.

And then told her if she did not go to hospital on Thursday for the day to have treatment she might not need the vaccine.

She asked - as I told her to - could they not give it to her then if she was making the huge effort to go and spend hours in a hospital and put herself at risk?

They told her it does not work like that. You get it when it is your turn and there is no Covid at any hospital. We are a secure environment.

I am so angry at the outight lies they are telling vulnerable people.

But she just trusts them and cannot believe anyone is being prioritised or getting it early.

She really assumes there are 3 million plus more vulnerable than she is.

I am furious at the way that her and I suspect many others like her are being left to wait for a terrible administrative bureaucracy.

The only thing she has had in writing is a long letter that arrived today that is just general advice on how to stay safe as we 'enter' lockdown. She cannot read it and will not know its contents until she gets someone to come to her house to read it to her.

How many thousands are in this position?

Excess deaths is all that counts in the great scheme of things. 85k 0.01278% of the UK population.
For the record Russia had 189k 0.01303% of the Russian population.
19% more than the UK.
Although tragic and avoidable, the number of deaths is an almost irrelevant figure at this stage. If it's 1 or 1 million, it certainly doesn't matter from a healthcare perspective. COVID kills less than 1% of patients but that doesn't mean a massive percentage aren't seriously inflicted by it.

A startling statistic out yesterday is 1/4 of everyone in hospital with COVID is under 55, that's the threat this thing poses. In the grand scheme of things it means the vaccines will not have any impact for 1/4 of COVID hospitalisations until likely late summer.

If we don't push down cases then hospitals will have to start to make decisions they shouldn't have to, for example do you treat the 30 year old with COVID who is struggling to breathe (but will survive) or do you treat the guy having a heart attack who might not make it? With lower cases, the 30 year old isn't hospitalised, the other guy is treated and maybe both survive?

I agree with most of that, bar the liver will recover. Not sure on that front, it’s taking a battering.

Friend of mine is a teacher. Just posted on Facebook they he's had his first jab. Surprised it is being rolled out already to teachers. Anyone else heard anything about that?
Does he think a test is a vaccine?

See I’m of the opinion you shop online, you buy loads of booze and get proper done in at home, I also order coffee and make myself a drink in the day, I don’t need a cafe to charge me 3 quid or queue up for it. Fuck the dog, throw it a toy but dont spill your ale, if you need a weed get it shoved through your letterbox and leave cash in gas meter box, go to work, come home get twatted, go to bed, repeat. Get vaccine and forget above but meet dealer at your local instead. Before you know it covid will be done and dusted as will your liver but it’ll be reet

I’ve heard the Etihad Campus vaccination centre isn’t that busy.

it's just opened hasn't it ?

I know we need to get the most venerable vaccinated asap but there has to be some give and patience considering the huge logistical task they are taking - not to mention how lucky we are to have got a vaccine out there already

Takes about 8-12 weeks for a liver that hasn’t been irreparably damaged to recover from alcohol damage.

Livers are magical things. We should treasure them and eat the liver of other animals n’all!

I’m a teacher at a secondary school in Chadderton. Certainly haven’t been offered the vaccine yet, and as far as I know, neither have any of my colleagues.
And quite right, in my opinion. I strongly believe that elderly and vulnerable people should have priority.

Yes, I’m giving them time to see if it all works out fingers crossed. I just shared what I heard in case Heald Place’s friend can get a jab at the Etihad but it might be better for them to go to their local GP Practice

It’s a no from me
It was doing the same job I do now for about £10k/year more, without having to pay income tax, and getting my own accommodation that I could choose from a selection for a nominal monthly fee (would have been a couple of hundred quid and they were decent apartments).

I nearly did it. Would have done it for two years and done absolutely nothing whilst there, saving every penny. But when I really had a good think about it, thought “naaah!” haha
