The target is to give these groups at least one shot as there is now up to 12 weeks between the first and second dose. Based on the current numbers this target won't be reached but clearly the rate will be ramped up. My feeling has been that it will be the end of next month to do these groups and that will still be a great effort.

That's pretty much as I see it. If they're close, that's okay, but the numbers were down 1/3 on the last 4 day average today for some reason (not having the weekend? having largely used up the Pfizer vaccine so they only have one to use?).

Had a chest exam today, sort of good news.

Won't give me any more antibiotics, had two courses already.

Docs said my lungs at the bottom are now clear but defo still 'sticky' at the top where the alveoli are. They've no idea how long it will take to clear and stop coughing.

I thought alveoli was the stuff you dipped your bread in on holiday?

You have to be kind to yourself, so even if I have a better day, I don't take it for granted, just chill on my bed.

Sounds like it's done a right number in you but glad it's starting to clear. Easy does it and you'll be fucking reet as rain in no time. Just remember you'll actually beat Covid where as Phil Jones will always be an ugly twat. Pray for Phil.

The Book Thief is brilliant. One of the rare times as well that the film is just as good as the book. I read it just before going to Berlin last time around. Not going to lie had tears in my eyes touching the Wall thinking about what that girl/lady went through all those years ago. Great read and the only time I've seen it recommended by somebody other than myself. Great taste ;-)

No. If I recall correctly, @Healdplace gave the three criteria that Boris said would be reported daily.

Number of shots given that day
Cumulative number of people having received first shot

Thanks - as the numbers are being made available, it's less important, but you'd think the big press conference would be a good place to mention them, as they mention the cases/deaths then.

Weird thing, I don't know how everyone else's experience has been with regards to loss of smell and taste. I thought it might gradually wane but it's literally been 100% fine an hour ago and completely gone now. Thought the Mrs had just made me a watered down bland caramel latte but to test she brought me up a Bounty (I despise coconut) and ate it without tasting a single hint of flavour. Gone, just like that.

Very good news.

45000 cases is double what it was 4 weeks ago, so I'd rather think of it as a better sign. Good news will be when they are in the low thousands.

Get cases down very low before relaxing.

I'd say get them and keep them down before relaxing much if anything.

Sorry just being a bit picky on your post, we need to temper the good news, because some people will be looking for any chink of light to relax everything.

Those are the numbers where it is regarded as cause of death. I think the 100,000 include those that mention Covid as a factor but not the direct cause.

Excess deaths is all that counts in the great scheme of things. 85k 0.1278% of the UK population.
For the record Russia had 189k 0.1303% of the Russian population.
19% more than the UK.

Massive increase in cases in the West Midlands today.

? Unless I am missing something.

The number from the West Midlands is DOWN today v yesterday.

From 5659 to 4756.

East Midlands down from 2900 to 2757.

North West was the only region with a significant rise as I posted an hour or so ago.

Up from 5419 to 6453

Teachers are at arm’s length every day so I have no problem with it.

As far as I know he is teaching from home. Certainly was the other day anyway.

I'm all for teachers getting vaccines (so my kids can go back to school) just surprised he had had it so soon. I have another friend working in hospital who only got their first jab yesterday. Has your mother in law heard anything about her vaccine?
