England hospital deaths

Good news

Just 3 with 1 from the NW.

Last week it was 6 with 1 and week before 18 with 5 from NW.

The one from the NW is in Bolton.

All 3 were from the last 3 days - 1 per day.

Two of the deaths were aged 40 - 59 btw. The other one 80 +

In this hot weather it is uncomfortable - but you have to wear it in a few 15 minute bursts through a day. When I think its a chore I think of all those folk who are Dr's, nurses, care workers and so on who wear one for an 8, 10,12 hour and more shift - its not that tough for us really is it?
I am sweating buckets by the end of a shift wearing PPE for 4 or 5 hours. There are times I can take it down and take the visor off (When clients are not in the room). But its the plastic gloves and plastic pinny that is the worst, sweat sweat sweat and a fire hazard, especially after putting the handgel on. Its inhuman tbh

But its covid I am told, do I want to let people die?!!

You can expect some visits to a tribunal then, which you will without doubt lose, considering:

1. There is no law that mandates vaccination - i think there is law that states you can't discriminate on health grounds, much like age, sex, or race.
2. This would be classed as textbook discrimination.
3. Tribunals are always set up in favour of the employee - you have to prove it wasn't discriminatory.

  • The prime minister's former aide Dominic Cummings has published expletive-laden messages apparently from Boris Johnson, including one that brands the health secretary "hopeless", in the latest salvo in a bitter war of words over the handling of the pandemic.

    Brilliant!!!
A complete and utter arsehole and someone you wouldn't want covering you're back in a crisis.
As you think it's brilliant perhaps you and he are one of a kind.
Spineless

Northern Ireland data:

0 deaths - was 0 last week

143 cases - was 105 last week

5.8% positivity - was 5.0% last week

2 care home outbreaks - was 2 yesterday & 1 last week

765 Rolling 7 day cases total - was 722 yesterday & 585 last week

16 patients - was 15 yesterday and 18 last week

0 ventilated - same as yesterday & last week

AGE RANGES OF TESTING POSITIVE

0 - 19 (248) 32.4%

20 - 39 (354) 46.3%

40 - 59 (131) 17.1%

60 - 79 (28) 3.7%

80 + (4) 0.5%

Little change to the pattern of around one in 25 over 60 and 8 out of 10 under 40.

I didnt mean it in that way. I meant brilliant in a 'thats all we need' way. Ive deleted it from my original post as I wouldnt want anyone to think I agree with what Cummings is doing.

Everyone has a duty to be respectful, responsible, careful and hygenic but no one should be expected/forced to have this vaccine until its 100% proven to be safe.
If and when that day comes, then no problem....crack on.
Absolutely no medicines are 100 per cent safe and that includes possible side affects from Asprin. You can't expect to work in the NHS or care sector when you pose a disease threat to your patients. There are risks attached to all medical procedures, even going to the dentist. If you sign up to work as a carer, nurse, or doctor, then you have to put the welfare of your patients as a priority. That means being vaccinated. Otherwise get another job.

Yeah,all fair comment.

Regards a drug like Aspirin, its a proven medicine through decades of effective use,and the contraindications are established.People have the knowledge whether or not such is a suitable treatment for them, its the same for other established procedures and medicines.

I can understand the hesitancy people may have, and i'm sure the decision is a conflicting one for most.

There is no such thing as a vaccine that is 100% safe. All vaccines carry a risk but it is usually so infintessimally small, that normally they are treated as safe. The risk cannot in all conscience be used as an excuse to dodge unless you are especially vulnerable to that particular drug.
