Coronavirus (2021) thread

Read this morning that only half of men aged 18-24 in the U.K. have come forward to be vaccinated, so I’m not sure whether a carrot or stick approach is required, or a combination of both.
I'd offer them a hundred quid voucher to get the vaccine, to be spent in this country on anything of their choice. I think it would be enough to get the percentage up considerably and the cost compared to what we have spent so far would be almost irrelevant.

Antibodies in 18-24 year olds will be increasing with students going home. I can’t really see the point of vaccinating under 16s when the virus will hardly make them ill. The argument that they are a Covid reservoir putting people at risk who avoided taking their jabs doesn’t cut any ice with me.

In the spirit of collective responsibility, I’m prepared to bequeath my Debenham’s vouchers…

looks like “freedom day” isn’t going to be “freedom day” and social distancing is going to continue despite the fact no body is dying of the thing any more.

And in Manchester 15% of 18-24 are fully vaxed and less than 50% of them have a 1st jab.

My 18 year old was booked in for his jab but has had to re book as he has had to isolate twice, one straight after the other. First was from somone in his class at college being positive, so he had to isolate for 10 days, then 2 days after that finished his step dad tested positive, so he is now midway through isolating again. He has tested himself both times and been negative. I would imagine there are others in the same boat, which is why some won't have had the jab yet through no fault of their own.

Looks like its going to be all restrictions removed except masks in indoor public spaces (trains, shops, bars etc).
Seems reasonable to me, but it will only have the effect intended if it's enforced, and let's be honest, it has never been enforced.
Nadhim Zahawi told The Andrew Marr Show: "The guidelines will be very clear on things like mask-wearing, there's an expectation on people to wear masks indoors, in crowded places, on public transport. There's both a personal responsibility and a corporate responsibility."

Zahawi now saying people still expected to wear masks in indoor enclosed spaces after 'freedom' day.
But this seems to contradict what Government ministers have been saying they will do after July 19 ( not to mention 'no mask' BoJo in the back of his car the other night).
Anyone know what's going on Jeff?
