i think the vote or further discussion in the commons on whether care home staff are to be mandatorily vaccinated is today

i for one am against this, i dont believe in mandatory vaccination and dont believe in the stratification of society by mandatory vaccination by career choice, i think it's a blunt instrument that will damage a fragile employment sector, but i know plenty support it.

however, the gov consultation of 13,000 people show 57% of people oppose it also.

Nobody is forcing these dickheads to work in care homes.

Don’t want a jab? Fine. Get a new job that doesn’t involve putting vulnerable in danger.

Anti vaxxers are thick scum.

Groundhog day as yet again it turns out that the virus is entirely unmoved by political rhetoric.

Shockingly even the same old schtick from a new health secretary has had bugger all effect on an infectious disease.

Who would have thought it?

At least the Dutch PM apologised.
That's because the Dutch PM was a complete and utter fucking dick (and no, I'm not saying Johnson hasn't been one either at various points during the pandemic!) for lifting so many restrictions all at once which in turn led to an approx 15 fold increase in infections in the space of a little over a week.

Whatever we think of the performance of our own government during this, one thing they have been largely sensible about is the roadmap out of lockdown. The timing of each phase prior to this last one has been more or less bang on and it's only the final stage that is presenting any real problems. We can blame Delta for that (and yes, we can point fingers at the PM for it getting in when it did but as has been seen elsewhere, it was getting in anyway) and without that curveball we would be fully open now. Other countries don't appear to have as clear a roadmap to opening back up and seem to be taking a more random approach, hence why we're seeing an increase in cases in the Netherlands that is far more exponential than what we've seen over here.

does 'anti vaxxer' cover absolutely everyone in the country who has hesitancy over getting it? let's say from aged 12 and up? let's not include medical exemption in this

I wonder how that will play out with the French population who are much more reluctant to be vaccinated than their UK neighbours (70% v 90% in surveys).

The French anti-vax thing seems to be playing out as typical gallic all mouth and no trousers.

They're already up to 86% doses/ population vs our 117%, bang on the EU average, are vaccinating at twice our rate and will cover 12-17yos.

It looks like they'll end up similar to us, could be a bit better, maybe a bit worse.

I agree. Disastrous up to the last lock down, sensible since.

But the point I was making was that Rutte at least acknowledges the error. Our govt has never done that. And Johnson's policy is now the exact same as what Rutte apologised for, AFAIKT.

Why are kids of 12 or so thinking like this? Because of shit for brain anti vaxxers spreading unfounded bollocks on the internet.

We all had that jab at school where they pricked you with this circle thing and if it went away you had to have jab - can’t remember what it was called but I remember everyone thumping folk on the arm after it. I don’t remember anyone of my class mates going “nah it’ll make me grow two heads so I decline” we just cracked on with it.

still has to be passed i believe, but the amendments have been written. think it'll get voted through though yes.
The letter states they are going faster than the government, as of Sept its a condition of employment all employees to have had first jab jab by Sept 13, to be double jabbed by Nov when they expect it to be a legal requirement. They think it will be 16 weeks from as soon as the law is passed
