Why are kids of 12 or so thinking like this? Because of shit for brain anti vaxxers spreading unfounded bollocks on the internet.

We all had that jab at school where they pricked you with this circle thing and if it went away you had to have jab - can’t remember what it was called but I remember everyone thumping folk on the arm after it. I don’t remember anyone of my class mates going “nah it’ll make me grow two heads so I decline” we just cracked on with it.

yeah that's fine, young kids are definitely influenced by adults with an agenda, sadly. I just wanted to know if every single person in the country who had vaccine hesitancy was "anti vaxx thick scum" (leaving aside medical exemption)

That was for tuberculosis IIRC. The reason nobody thought it would enable Bill Gates to track every movement was because it was in the 70s and semi-conductor technology was in its infancy so microchips were too big to get through the eye of a syringe.
They still are of course but shit for brains anti-vaxxers now have the internet to spread their ignorance and generations of ill-educated gullible clowns believe the shit. - This applies to other issues as well, but let's leave that for the politics forum.

I thought same re the 19th, but think it still depends on who your school goes with - Public Health England or the local authority?

We go away to Scotland a week on Friday, so we are just glad it wasn't next week this happened.

To be honest, I don't want her going back in then for a couple days just in case...

Pretty sure the school bubbles end on August 16th, I presume thats to allow enough time for nobody to be isolating before the new school year starts.

My 10 year old got sent home last Wednesday because a kid in the year above her tested positive and both classes use the same toilet facilities in school, absolute shitshow but there is absolutely no point getting wound up over it, she's back in this Friday for 4 days, we go away on the 31st July so even if she got sent home again there are enough days to fulfil the isolation period. If there wasnt I would be thinking the same as you and not bothering sending her in.

Adults are influenced just as much. I have 2 OAP in-laws unvaccinated due to an anti vaxer relative spreading there views.

I agree. Disastrous up to the last lock down, sensible since.

But the point I was making was that Rutte at least acknowledges the error. Our govt has never done that. And Johnson's policy is now the exact same as what Rutte apologised for, AFAIKT.
I'm pretty sure I remember Johnson apologising for the loss of life at some point. Look - if every PM apologised for every mistake or perceived mistake during this pandemic then they wouldn't have time to do anything else.

Macron announced the start of the fourth wave on French TV last night making the non vaccinated 2nd class citizens.
Basically you can only use public transport or, or go to a bar or restaurant or other place of entertainment from now on if you are vaccinated. You also can't work in the health or care sectors from 15th September if you're not vaccinated.
I wonder how that will play out with the French population who are much more reluctant to be vaccinated than their UK neighbours (70% v 90% in surveys).

I think hesitancy is understandable and some people are more hesitant than others. I suspect many who are hesitant and not had the jabs yet will ultimately get it once they see people don’t have side effects from having it. I’d also draw a line under it, jabs are free until such a date to try and encourage the stragglers.

But for me hesitancy is not the same as those who are vehemently opposed, the so called anti vaxxers. Ultimately we will see that they have some sort of impact in their lives to that decision; be it in their liberty (travelling for example) or job opportunities etc. Maybe even in state benefits if they are unable to work in certain sectors due to not being vaccinated - I suspect existing legislation will allow this. You want the benefits of this society? Then you play the game.

In a vaccination centre in Malaysia of 453 workers and volunteers screened, 204 tested positive for Covid!
