Last Survey I saw put France at closer to 40% uptake. if that is the case Delta is gonna hit hard!

our world in data has them at just over 50% having had a jab ( single jab )

France has 87% doses as a percentage of the population. Ours is 117%

The French rate is almost exactly the same as ours was when our case rate was first rising at the rate theirs is now.

So right now they're bang on track for the same impact we'll have at. No idea what restrictions they're proposing vs our nowt.

Very gloomy and disappointing press conference last night, so much for his irreversible message a few weeks ago.
It's clear as anything that the message is enjoy it while you can, the restrictions will come back in October, it's blatantly obvious. It's like being a prisoner in Strangeways allowed a few days outside and being told you've got to go back in again.
Yesterday should have been used as the moment of joy full of spirit and optimism, we got the complete opposite from Boris and his 2 doom merchant mates.

Yet one has to ask firstly by September most of the UK population would have received both doses of the vaccination - the vaccination we were told would mean total freedom, what possible justification could they have for further lockdowns? Are they taking us for fools?

Personally Im thinking this will just be a pre cursor to mask wearing. They are heavily shifting emphasis from them onto businesses to dictate masks or not.

I guess winter issues will depends how well hard flu hits and how many people take the flu vaccine this year ( 1st year im tempted to pay for it )

that's it though isnt it, you have some conspiracy sorts, then you have the susceptible that they influence and then the spectrum of people with opinions based on politics, ethics, medical uncertainty, balance of risk and so on and so on.

"dont take vaccine = scum of society" is precisely what the country doesn't need, and is not a balanced debate.

mandatory vaccination by job type, and vaccine passports, will create divisions in society (subcultures, angry factions etc, more extreme political stances) that far outweigh the damage that 10 - 20% of people not getting jabbed will.

I disagree. This country should not be pandering to people who won’t take the vaccine for no reason other than their own unfounded fears.

Fuck them. Don’t take a jab? Your choice, your problem. And if that upsets their sensitivities then tough luck.

We have all sorts of actions that are frowned upon by society, drink driving, driving whilst under influence of drugs, speeding to name a few - you know selfish cunts that put other folk at risk. Why should anti vaxxers get a free pass?

40% was a poll of people saying they were going to take it rather than uptake.

this is where they are at on people who have had at least 1 shot..

of course it's unethical. If there was no alternative then ok but there is. Lets be honest, some people are ok with a certain amount of people dying because they don't want to wait a few months. They will hide behind "economic" reasons etc but it's really just that they are not affected and are what i said. Alright with a certain number of people dying because they want it over.
Problem is and it was mentioned by Chris Whitty last night you will get an exit wave whenever you finally release the restrictions. Question is it better to do it now in summer or in a couple of months when more are double jabbed but just as we’re going into winter and flu/respiratory disease season?

It seems strange to me that people assume that restrictions will be imposed in a few months given that over 80% of people now have antibodies and that number is rising rapidly. This is via a mix of vaccination and infection.

We are clearly reaching a limit on vaccinations and it is highly unlikely that more than 70% of the 18-25 group will be vaccinated any time soon so cases will continue to spread within that group for a period until herd immunity is reached (whatever that percentage now is).

Either being fully vaccinated or having been infected offers a very large degree of protection and we get on with life or it doesn’t and I suppose we’d still have to get on with life as I can’t see an alternative in that case.

Also, how fast to remove restrictions.

We've decided to ditch everything all at once, which heightens risks of a spike.

And whether to vaccinate teenagers, which could make a game-changing difference to Authumn.

Yes it's strange to me too but the rhetoric from last night posted a very gloomy and despondent picture from the press conference the question is why.

Not sure we aren't in an exit wave now, think a lot of the remaining restrictions are being quite loosely applied, and looking at the scenes from Wembley and around just ignored. Not sure the lifting next week will make a huge difference, especially as schools break up. Still think masks should be kept though.
