You keep going on about this as if it’s inevitable. What makes you think that this will happen now with the vast majority vaccinated or with antibodies through infection? It hasn’t happened at any point during the pandemic so why would it happen now?
It happened in parts of the NHS in January and during the first wave. Most NHS services were postponed and we now have a waiting list of 13million people IIRC. What’s never worked to date (for Covid 19) is nerd immunity but a lot of posters don’t want to accept this, I’m afraid.

If people wont get vaccinated then the only way this ends is through infection. It is self-limiting. Every peak and wave crashes. The uncertainty is where we are in relation to the peak.

don’t we have to trust the efficacy of the vaccines and science? You don’t seem to want to .

the vaccines offer some protection against transmission but the main protection is against serious illness and hospitalisation, that’s why we are hoping the hospitals won’t be overwhelmed even if cases rise,

frankly if people who have been double jabbed still end up in hospital in large numbers again and overwhelm the NHS and we all have to go back to lockdown then we have wasted an awful lot of money , time and effort developing vaccines that don’t do their job.

I think with vaccinations and better treatment it may not happen. but cases are going up at a alarming rate with the more transmissible variant and even vaccinated people are going to hospital, opening up all restrictions will result in more hospitalisations

Hospitals were close to full in previous waves, but prevented from collapsing due to lockdown.

I’m all for science and the vaccine programme. Thousands Of scientists and medics are saying abandoning every measure is reckless. What harm was mask wearing in supermarkets or public transporting until all the adult population had the chance to be double jabbed doing? The Government see “freedom day” as a vote winner and the impact on wider patient care seems an irrelevance.

Btw, I was in the pub yesterday having a great time. I’ve had both jabs now and I have faith in the vaccine. My next door neighbour who has long Covid wasn’t so lucky. The mass circulation of the virus has done for her and hundreds of thousands like her.

we never had the level of antibodies in the country in the previous waves. it’s the vaccines job prevent this from arising .

if it doesn’t and we have to rely on lockdowns again to control the virus and protect the nhs then a lot of time and money has been wasted.

Many will carry on wearing masks in such places.

when I go into hospital I have to wear a new medical mask which is great And obvs medically approved. Everyone has to wear the same mask because they afford protection.

I don’t really think people wearing a scarf or a piece of cloth across their face in a supermarket really gives people the level of protection they think it does.
